JOB DESCRIPTION

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, MAJOR GIFTS

Shawnigan Lake School is entering an exciting time in its 106-year history.

Project Future, the school’s strategic plan, has introduced a new mission statement – Spark minds, kindle hearts, forge futures – and ambitious plans are in place to construct new buildings and broaden access to the Shawnigan Journey for deserving youth through expanded scholarships and financial aid.

The Advancement & Community Engagement team leads fundraising and engagement activities with parents, alumni, staff, and friends of the school. The Associate Director, Major Gifts is a central part of the fundraising team focused primarily on raising resources to deliver Project Future initiatives, including capital projects, scholarships, and endowment.

This position manages relationships with a dedicated portfolio of major donors, identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding current and prospective supporters through the philanthropy cycle.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced major gift fundraiser with a full understanding of the trends impacting the fundraising industry.  He or she will be a team player, passionate about education and youth development, and will thrive while connecting with high-net-worth donors in a school setting. As part of the Advancement & Community Engagement team, overall philanthropic support for the School and effective modelling the School’s core values of Curiosity, Compassion, Community, and Courage are fundamental to this position.
