National VOAD

Founded in 1970, National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) is an association of organizations that mitigate and alleviate the impact of disasters providing a forum for promoting cooperation, communication, coordination, and collaboration; and fostering more effective delivery of services to communities affected by disaster. National VOAD membership is comprised of more than 130 national, state, territory and associate members. In addition, the broader VOAD Movement represents more than a thousand community and faith-based organizations across the United States.

Summary

The Program Associate will be responsible for strategic relationship management and quality program implementation primarily with State/Territory VOADs. This position serves as the National VOAD office main point of contact for State/Territory VOAD leadership requiring strong interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and acute attention to detail in all work product.

Essential Responsibilities

The following responsibilities define the major aspects of the position and factors of success:

  • Ensure State/Territory VOAD leadership and members are aware of and receiving services offered by National VOAD while maintaining close working relationships with state leadership.
  • Support awareness, coordination and resources for ongoing response and recovery activities across the U.S.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop training materials for capacity building and facilitate an establish State/Territory VOAD training and mentorship program.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with partners and diverse organizations within and external to the VOAD Movement.
  • Provide support to the three State/Territory VOAD Liaisons on the National VOAD Board of Directors.
  • Maintain accurate records of State/Territory VOAD leadership, governance, major initiatives and other relevant information.
  • Develop processes and procedures with documentation for all member services and communication needs.
  • Utilizing various forms of technology to support situational awareness, member services, and training.
  • Participate in and support planning efforts for the annual NVOAD conference and member meetings.
  • Lead virtual and in-person meetings throughout the year.
  • Represent National VOAD at various events and meetings including some public speaking opportunities.
  • Serve on internal work teams and attend meetings relevant to job duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Up to 15% Travel
