JOB SUMMARY:

Clemson University's Corporate Foundation Relations Team is looking for a Senior Director of Foundation Relations to fulfill the following duties:
  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards regional and national private foundations, as well as corporations and corporate foundations, for the purpose of securing significant gifts and grants that support Clemson University's institutional priorities, academic programs, and initiatives.
  • Establishes new long-term partnerships and strengthens existing relationships with the foundation and corporate sectors.
  • Other duties as assigned.


JOB DUTIES:

45% - Essential - Fundraising Management:
Works with advancement/development colleagues, faculty, Deans, unit directors, volunteers, administration, and staff to identify and solicit foundation, corporate and corporate foundation support. Cultivates relationships with these foundations, prepares proposals for foundation solicitations, and serves as a team member on other relationship teams. Works closely with Clemson University Foundation, CFR team, and other development colleagues in the preparation of grant proposals.

20% - Essential - Research and Proposal Development:
Conducts prospect research and maintains in-depth knowledge of all University policies and priorities. Participates In structured sessions with colleagues to coordinate prospect identification activity, engagement, strategy building, proposal development, solicitation and follow up for engaging regional and national foundations. Ensures that accurate and up-to-date information is available on foundations. Presents timely analysis of foundation giving trends to ensure strategic planning in this area

15% - Essential - Stewardship and Donor Management:
Provides thoughtful, consistent, and appropriate foundation and corporate stewardship including impact reports and other measures of accountability. Oversees gift invoicing and tracks scholarship and fellowship awards to ensure that they are awarded appropriately. Monitors and enters all activity in the database system in an accurate and timely manner. Works with CFR staff to effectively steward foundation donors through reports, events, and publicity.

10% - Essential - Collaboration and Communication:
Works closely with internal and external partners to promote and solicit funding from viable foundation and corporate partners and prospects. Works collaboratively with the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), Office of Corporate Partnerships and Strategic Initiatives (OCPSI), Clemson Sports & Campus Marketing (CAPCO), the Provost Office and all Colleges/Units. Must be inclusive, collaborative and demonstrate exceptional oral and written communication skills.

10% - Essential - Representation and Liaising:
Fosters a positive public image & promotes support of Univ. programs & initiatives. Visits foundation & corporate foundation prospects & arranges campus visits. Attends regional & national conferences for networking & benchmarking best practices for fdn & corp relations w/peer institutions. Works closely w/univ volunteers to increase fdn partner awareness and engagement. Liaisons w/Div of Research & OSP for the purpose of strategic engagement w/private nat'l fdns; writing & coordinating proposal submissions and grants administration. Works closely w/OSP & Office of Research Dev to increase faculty applications to nat'l fdns; manages proposal review and submission processes for private fdns.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelor's Degree
Work Experience - 7+ years in corporate and/or foundation fundraising.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Master's Degree
Work Experience - 10+ years in corporate and/or foundation fundraising.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages Work of Others - Manages work of others including hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff. Plans organizational structure and job content.

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitors Budget - Does not provide input but is responsible for monitoring the departmental budget and may oversee fund allocation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Master's Degree
Work Experience - 10+ years in corporate and/or foundation fundraising.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Occasional Overnight Travel. Evening and weekend work required.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Standard Hours: 37.5; Expected Salary Range - ($ 94,315.00 - $ 120,000.00)
