Position Focus:
The Senior Associate Director of Development is a member of the School's Alumni Engagement and Development (AED) team, reporting to the Director of Development.
This individual is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and acknowledgement of leadership annual fund gifts from alumni, parents, and friends of the Yale Law School. This individual has responsibility for meeting all specific revenue and activity goals established in collaboration with the Director of Development. The Senior Associate Director will also collaborate on the creation of plans for annual donor solicitations, and the strategic planning to set annual goals and tactics.
This is an opportunity to join a critical area of fundraising for a top law school with an engaged alumni base and a strong tradition of philanthropy. Joining at the outset of the public phase of the Yale University campaign, For Humanity, the Senior Associate Director will serve as a catalyst for the growth of YLS' philanthropic constituency.
The Senior Associate Director:
Manages a portfolio of approximately 100 prospects with an annual goal of 120 personal visits, preferably face-to-face, and 75 solicitations in the $1,000-$100,000 range per year.
Tracks all prospect and donor engagement/activity in Hopper, Yale University's CRM.
Leads the creation of strategic donor solicitations plans, and drives the successful execution of those plans.
Participates in the development of a volunteer pipeline and recruitment of volunteers.
In conjunction with the Director of Volunteer Engagement and Director of Development, work with 4-5 reunion committees to help achieve their fundraising goals.
In conjunction with the Director of Development, creates annual plan for reunion giving with specific strategies for each reunion class.
Develops and maintains collegial relationships with other members of the YLS AED team and Central Development colleagues to increase donor involvement and overall philanthropy to the school.
The Sr. Associate Director will have a deep understanding of fundraising, a demonstrated ability to build relationships with prospective donors and volunteers, and a track record of successful personal solicitations.

Essential Duties:
1. Secures financial support from and continue to develop long-term relationships with institutional donors, including foundations, corporations, and alumni sources. 2. Develops and executes a strategy for growing relationships with major individual donors, including corporations and alumni events. 3. Develops, implements, and monitors consistent and comprehensive policies and procedures across the department. 4. Monitors monthly productivity statistics and key financial indicators to assess accuracy and effectiveness of processes and identify trends and make improvements. 5. Defines operating procedures and policies. 6. Guides and directs less senior staff and resolve problems as they arise. 7. Recommends specific training to meet department's goals and objectives 8. Supervises a staff of exempt and non-exempt employees. 9. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:
Minimum requirement of Bachelor’s Degree in related field and three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Ability to work in a team-based environment and have the ability to motivate volunteers. Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation, and organizational skills.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Demonstrated success in securing annual leadership gift-level gifts.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Strong computer software skills including MS Office, Excel, Power Point, databases, and networked information systems.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Ability and willingness to travel, and work some weekends and evenings as needed.

Required Skill/Ability 5:

Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace.



Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
Experience in a complex, matrixed university setting working with alumni and donors. Familiarity with Yale University.
