The Harvest Foundation is hiring a Program Officer with a focus on Health & Education.
Work with a dynamic team in the historic district of Uptown Martinsville in Southside Virginia to support transformative change in Martinsville-Henry County.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as a community leader on education/health as it relates to transformation of the area and ensure Harvest is seen as a trusted partner and collaborator in the community.
- Research, identify, and analyze best practices in education and health, and how they intersect with economic transformation, educational attainment, health, and wellness, and/or community engagement; learn from other communities using best practice models; share information with community stakeholders; and seek out prospective Harvest grantees that will use a best practice approach.
- Build and steward relationships with a broad range of stakeholders and with those who have a variety of viewpoints and ideologies.
- Review and evaluate grant requests; communicate recommendations to organization leadership, including Board of Directors.
- Monitor grantees’ quarterly progress reports and request changes as needed.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree required, with a Master’s degree preferred and a
minimum of 5 years’ experience working in health and/or education
in a leadership role. Experience in community engagement in
the non-profit sector, local government, or philanthropy is a
plus.
