Associate Vice President of Development

 

Baylor University invites nominations and applications for the position of Associate Vice President of Development.

 

The Associate Vice President (AVP) of Development will have strategic oversight, leadership, and management of a comprehensive development effort in support of Baylor University’s priorities and initiatives. The AVP of Development will lead, manage, and mentor an Assistant Vice President of Provost Initiatives, an Assistant Vice President of Development (Regional), and an Assistant Vice President of Development (Schools and Colleges). The Associate Vice President of Development reports to the Vice President of University Advancement and serves as a member of the management team for the Division of University Advancement. Additionally, the AVP will manage a portfolio of approximately 25-50 prospects and is responsible for the successful completion of measurable goals, both individually and as a team, such as face-to-face visits, significant contacts, proposals delivered, and funds raised.

Baylor University’s new AVP of Development will be an advancement professional of considerable experience with the ability to embody the Baylor culture and possess a deep appreciation for the University’s Christian mission. They will be a demonstrated successful fundraiser and leader who can provide leadership and direction for a team, work collaboratively with others, and who regularly goes above and beyond to serve the University. Operating at both the strategic and tactical levels, the AVP will lead by word and deed, both creating plans and playing a direct role in their fulfillment. Accomplishing this requires a thorough-going advancement professional with the full range of interpersonal, communications, and relationship-building skills that typify outstanding advancement professionals at the top of their game. Minimum qualifications include:

 

  • A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree is preferred, as is CFRE or other fundraising certification.
  • Minimum of 10 years progressively responsible management experience in a sophisticated advancement enterprise, preferably in higher education.
