Hoag Hospital Foundation (HHF), the philanthropic arm of one of the top-ranked hospitals in California and the highest-ranked hospital in Orange County, seeks two outstanding development leaders to join the organization as director of annual giving and director of prospect management and research. It is an exciting time to join the Foundation following significant investment in and growth of both Hoag Hospital (Hoag) and HHF, which has contributed to further and reaffirm Hoag as a leader on the forefront of advanced care. Under the direction of an engaged volunteer Board of Directors, HHF conducts campaigns and programs that raise more than $100 million in new gifts and pledges each year. Securing the philanthropic resources to fuel leading-edge research, superb and compassionate clinical care, and advanced training drives HHF, and each member of the 60+-person organization plays a key role in this important work. Led by President Flynn A. Andrizzi, PhD, HHF is comprised of a talented and respected community of development professionals who take tremendous pride in the collaborative, supportive, and rewarding culture that they have diligently and intentionally created over the years. Currently, HHF is focused on a short-term capital campaign to raise $300 million to expand the Hoag Hospital Irvine campus, a project that will invest more than $1 billion to add new services to Orange County. The capital campaign is slated to conclude in 2025 and will serve as the bridge to a new comprehensive campaign, likely to begin with a $1 billion working goal.

To help maintain this level of success while simultaneously readying Hoag and HHF for future, more ambitious fundraising initiatives, the Foundation seeks two strategic and accomplished directors to join its high-performing team, each of whom will provide collaborative leadership and strategic vision to maximize the Foundation’s overall philanthropic potential.

The director of annual giving will work collaboratively with colleagues across the Foundation to craft multi-channel annual giving appeals through traditional vehicles, such as direct mail and email solicitations, while infusing modern, segmented, and creative tactics. Critical to the director’s success will be an ability to analyze the existing donor base and its annual giving patterns in order to devise strategies for renewing and upgrading donors, in addition to attracting new donors as Hoag expands its geographic reach in Orange County and beyond. With a proven track record of hands-on experience building and elevating the productivity of an annual giving operation, this individual will bring to the role a toolkit of best practices in donor segmentation, data analytics, and digital marketing. An effective storyteller, the director will also craft a compelling narrative around the impact of unrestricted dollars, particularly in the context of a development operation with an accomplished major and principal gift enterprise.

The Foundation also seeks a director of prospect management and research to serve as a key strategist and leader for Hoag’s prospect research and moves management program. As HHF continues to expand its donor base in preparation for a groundbreaking comprehensive campaign, the director will be an integral thought partner to developing individualized strategies and pathways for meaningful engagement that lead to successful solicitations. The director will ensure each development portfolio contains the right balance of donors and prospects, alongside the Foundation’s dedicated team of development professionals, and produces analytic reports appropriate to departmental needs. In concert with establishing sophisticated research tools, robust business intelligence, and industry best practices, the director’s deep understanding of the donor cultivation cycle and programmatic efforts will have a significant impact on identifying new major and principal gift prospects to realize the HHF’s ambitious philanthropic goals and aspirations.
