Director of Development

Our growing organization seeks a qualified Development Director to lead and expand our fundraising initiatives, including but not limited to annual campaigns, annual gala, and sponsorship efforts. SPUR is poised to start seeking larger annual donations through formal prospecting, cultivation, and stewarding, as well as apply for larger grants through formal grant processes.


ABOUT THE POSITION
SPUR is seeking a Development Director to oversee the fundraising activities within our thriving organization. Under the direction of SPUR’s Executive Director, the Development Director will focus on designing and implementing successful annual appeals, creating and executing unique and high yielding fundraising events, and cultivating strong sponsorship relationships. Additionally, the Development Director will create a vibrant moves management and prospecting pipeline to create a foundation for major donors, and work collaboratively with the Executive Director to identify and execute grant/foundation opportunities. The qualified candidate will be expected to meet and exceed SPUR's current annual fundraising of $320,000 through individual giving and fundraising events.
Candidates should have exceptional organizational and communication skills and be able to interact with various parties with a high level of professionalism. They should be poised and compelling in written communications, take pride and demonstrate shared ownership of the overall health and success of the organization, and serve as an outward and active champion of SPUR and our work in the community.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES
▪ Collaborate with the Executive Director to create and implement a fundraising plan, including an annual appeal, fundraising events, digital fundraising, business development, and major gift prospecting.
▪ Create and execute a vibrant annual appeal, including collaborating with the Communications Director to develop a digital fundraising strategy.
▪ Develop and execute a strategy for attracting major donors and creating a pipeline for all individual and corporate major giving, including stewarding current donors.
▪ Maintain relationships with existing sponsors and cultivate new sponsorship opportunities to further business development goals.
▪ Identify grant opportunities and collaborate with the Executive Director on writing grants.
▪ Collaborate with the Board of Directors, volunteers and current donors to identify and build relationships with current and new donors.
▪ Manage and execute all fundraising events, including logistics, invitations, communications, event promotion, sponsorship, and silent auction.
▪ Manage the volunteer-based Events Committee and Development Committee.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
▪ Bachelor’s degree in business, non-profit management, or a related field.
▪ Passion for mission and experience as a volunteer
▪ 4+ years of sales, business development, or fundraising experience
▪ Demonstrated track record of successful appeals, events and sponsorship securement.
▪ Experience with communicating and working with donors and sponsors.
▪ Strong attention to detail and impeccable time management skills
▪ Excellent computer skills; Proficient with MS Office applications and CRMs.
▪ Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
▪ Ability to work independently.
▪ Available to travel, work weekends and evenings.
▪ Valid driver’s license and clear background check.


SALARY & BENEFITS
▪ Salary commensurate with experience.
▪ Salary range: $55,000 - $65,000, benefits negotiable
▪ Flexible work schedule, with ability to work both remotely and in-office (currently Marblehead-based). Candidates must be available to be in-person in the office on a regular basis. Hours will vary depending on organizational needs.
▪ This position can vary from 32-40 hours, depending on experience.
