Responsible for working hand-in-hand with Lehigh's five college-specific Directors of Development and other department staff to cultivate programs that engage Lehigh's 85,000 alumni via their affiliation with an interest in college-specific initiatives. Specifically, the program will leverage existing program areas managed by Alumni Relations and the Individual Giving teams as a vehicle for highlighting talented faculty to alumni, parents and friends. The Associate Director will develop relationships with faculty and staff across the University.
1. Increase the depth and breadth of intellectual alumni
engagement through the creation and management of new activities
and online content. Specifically, working with Alumni Relations
Digital Communities and other Development and Alumni Relations
(DAR) teammates, strategize content for:
*Programs including Mountain Talks, the Virtual Book Club, Back
to the Classroom, Soaring Together: Celebrating Lehigh Women and 50
Years of Coeducation
*Amplification of existing faculty content including videos,
lectures, social media posts, blogs, symposiums, presentations and
other intellectual events
*The Alumni Relations website
2. Serve as a consultant for college faculty and staff
seeking to deepen their alumni engagement efforts
*Offer knowledge, support and tools that support cohesive alumni
engagement across
the University
*Offer "best practice" advice for our college partners regarding
their interactions with alumni
*Develop a simple system for colleges and faculty to alert
Alumni Relations to their alumni outreach
*Develop a process for when Alumni Relations can, will and/or
should provide event support and base levels of support on criteria
met that align with DAR and campaign goals; manage this system on
an ongoing basis
3. Leverage existing program areas managed by Alumni
Relations and Individual Giving to include faculty participation,
where appropriate
*Evaluate existing programs with program managers to identify
where faculty participation is needed and/or appropriate; serve as
an internal consultant to recommend appropriate faculty based on
program needs
*Alert DAR staff of alumni interactions with faculty via call
reports in the database
*Utilize data analytics to evaluate current marketing tactics,
events and programs
*Experiment with new ways to promote and advertise existing
events with faculty participation (Back to the Classroom, Mountain
Talks, Regional Events) to expand our reach
*Develop turnkey reports and processes for evaluation post-event
and program
*Steward faculty who participate in DAR events
4. Develop and oversee a comprehensive strategy for engaging
Graduate Alumni
*Provide leadership and supervision to an Assistant Director,
Graduate Alumni Engagement
*Promote Graduate Alumni engagement by utilizing the programs
and channels that are already established
5. Serve as Alumni Relations' point person for Soaring
Together initiative
*Work closely with other DAR and University staff until 2025 on
priority program that celebrates 50 Years of co-education at
Lehigh
*Scout opportunities to trumpet women's contributions to Lehigh
in the context of the existing programs
*Ideate and support various events around Soaring Together, both
on and off campus
*Co-manage development of a new student mentorship cohort that
gives scholarship recipients opportunities to be mentored by a
group of prominent alums
6. Support other members of the Alumni Relations team and DAR
colleagues and complete general office duties as expected
*Volunteer for programs housed within DAR such as Reunion
Weekend, Grad Fair Days, Send Offs, Regional events, volunteer
training, Lehigh University Alumni Association (LUAA) Board
meetings, etc.
*Complete general office duties proactively in a timely manner
including budget maintenance, timesheets, OneCard reconciliation,
calendar maintenance, etc.
*Provide customer service to internal and external constituents
as requested and needed
*Proactively assist alumni and staff (both internal and
external) and problem-solve; suggest or initiate changes and
improvements to departmental processes or procedures

The duties of this position may allow the employee to work partially remote as deemed appropriate by the supervisor
Events require overtime both during the week and on
weekends
The workload varies with the seasons; with Fall and Spring being
the heaviest concentrations
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Business Administration Theater or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Five to eight years related work experience
Strong ability to understand customer needs
Experience building social media channels
Adept use of digital communication
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and a high degree of initiative for bringing tasks to completion
Solid writing ability, attention to detail and organizational skills
Solid analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and a high level of customer service required
Ability to build, foster and maintain positive professional relationships
Excellent computer skills with experience using word
processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation
software
Successful completion of standard background checks including
but not limited to: social security verification, education
verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle
checks, PATCH, FBI fingerprinting, Child Abuse Clearance and credit
history based upon the requirements of the position
