The Purpose of Your Role

The Vice President, Philanthropic Strategies will have responsibility for building relationships with Fidelity Charitable’s most affluent prospects, family offices, and donors.  This role will manage a team of Director-level philanthropic strategists while playing a key role in building and growing Fidelity Chariable’s brand and community in the philanthropic sector.  It will also manage a portfolio of UHNW influencers and innovative philanthropic ultra-high net worth families and their teams.  

 

The Vice President, Philanthropic Strategies is the direct contact for clients who are assigned to Fidelity Charitable’s Private Donor Group (PDG). PDG clients have a minimum charitable account balance of $3M. The role of the VP is to manage the philanthropic strategists while maintain a significant overall Fidelity Charitable relationship with the donors families, as their philanthropic strategic partner. 

 

The VP provides seamless, personalized, integrated and holistic guidance, education and works internally and externally to ensure Fidelity Charitable is playing an influencing role in the non-profit and philanthropic sectors, anticipating and surpassing all of the UHNW Donors’ needs.  In addition, the VP will be a public spokesperson, author, thought leader, and convener for the Private Donor Group and Fidelity Charitable.  This role will also support innovation in impact investing, cryptocurrency and alternative and venture investment contributions, complex grantmaking and philanthropic organizational development, and will work with the fundraising team on new business development.

  • You are a strong manager, able to advise and guide a experienced group of philanthropic advisors
  • You have demonstrated your ability to work with $3m+ to $500M donors through developing relationships with donors and prospects; superior negotiation skills; excellent interpersonal skills
  • Your extensive knowledge of the philanthropic landscape, the non-profit sector, and investing and grantmaking best-practices make you a valuable resource to donors
  • You have working knowledge of planned giving, financial, and/or estate planning concepts;
  • You are comfortable serving as a spokesperson on impact investing and impact granting within a donor advised fund
  • You are a go-getter with proven skills in independent planning and efficient utilization of time and resources, are suited to a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment
  • You enjoy playing a designing and convening role with peers, donors, and non-profit and grantmaking partners
  • You can advocate for Fidelity Charitable’s products, services, and policies and procedures
  • You have superior interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills which have been illustrated through your proven ability to develop and negotiate complex relationships.

The Value You Deliver

  • Influencing the donor sector through managing a portfolio of ultra-high-net-worth individuals through the identification, qualification, cultivation and stewardship cycles
  • Forge relationships with a diverse population of donors that will help realize seven-, eight- and nine-figure contributions and grants
  • Providing seamless, integrated and holistic guidance resulting in a portfolio of new account holders who become highly engaged philanthropic individuals
  • Research and present personalized Donor Philanthropic advice to UHNW donors and their families
  • Serving as a proactive voice and presence for the Private Donor Group in the sector.
  • Providing proactive and timely information, including products and solutions, about the donor’s account
  • Proactive and responsive communications including facilitating introductions, hosting events and annual donor check-ins
  • Serve as a community catalyzer through development of giving circles, learning communities, and sector and region-specific program development.  
  • Clear understanding and confidence in articulating the full suite of Fidelity Charitable products and services to include Direct International Granting, Charitable Investment Advisor Program, Complex Assets, Donor Flex, Cryptocurrency, Specialized Granting and Impact Investing
  • Integrating into the sales process by sharing leads with Fundraising team and by working with Charitable Planning colleagues on UHNW account acquisitions 
  • Representing Fidelity Charitable and the Private Donor Group as a spokesperson at regional and national events and in face-to-face donor meetings
  • Participate in donor network gathering and conferences to promote Fidelity Charitable and engage with philanthropists, and organize donor education events
  • Working with fundraising, advisors, or other Fidelity (such a Private Wealth Management teams), Fidelity Charitable President or SLT, or external partners to tell the PDG story and increase donor philanthropic activity
  • Meeting with strategic partner organizations to create stronger relations and identify new partnership and prospect donor opportunities
