Common Justice develops and advances solutions to violence that transform the lives of those harmed and foster racial equity without relying on incarceration. Locally, the project operates the first alternative to incarceration and victim service program in the United States to focus on violent felonies in the adult courts. Nationally, it leverages the lessons from its direct service to transform the justice system through partnerships, advocacy, and elevating the experience and power of those most impacted. Rigorous and hopeful, Common Justice builds practical strategies to hold people accountable for harm, break cycles of violence, and secure safety, healing, and justice for survivors and their communities.

In this new role, the Development Coordinator will collaborate with and support the Development Team to mobilize resources and secure funding for Common Justice’s work. The Development Coordinator will report to the Director of Development and provide administrative support to the Development team, which includes the Manager of Institutional Giving, the Major Gifts Officer, and the Donor Organizer.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organizing meetings through scheduling, gathering materials, and securing space
  • Coordinating with the Operations and Finance team on departmental expense reports, revenue coding, and consultant invoices
  • Assisting the Major Gifts Officer and Donor Organizer with donor stewardship and fundraising events as needed
  • Supporting the Major Gifts Officer and Manager of Institutional Giving with donor and funder research as needed
  • Collaborating with the Development team to build out Common Justice’s fundraising infrastructure by assisting with the CRM customization and data import
  • Maintaining accurate donor and funder records in the CRM and grants management system
  • Supporting the Development team in co-facilitating the internal Mobilizing Resources Working Group, which offers fundraising peer learning sessions for non-Development staff and helps design fundraising strategies

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least 1 year of experience in administration and/or operations. Experience with fundraising and nonprofits is a plus
  • Strong commitment to social justice. Working knowledge about structural inequities and how they impact fundraising is a plus
  • Experience using donor management systems and maintaining accurate records is a plus
  • Demonstrated understanding of and respect for boundaries. The ideal candidate will partner with the Director of Development in cultivating a balanced work environment within the team and with donors
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail. A meticulous eye for detail combined with the ability to let things be good enough rather than perfect when needed is a plus
