PRESIDENT/CEO OF THE NORTH AMERICAN QUITLINE CONSORTIUM
The North American Quitline Consortium (NAQC) is a non-profit membership organization that seeks to promote evidence based quitline services across diverse communities in North America. NAQC’s membership is made-up of over 400 organizations and individuals that provide quitline services, fund quitlines, conduct research around quitline-related topics, advance national cessation policies, and work in other areas of tobacco control. Quitlines are tobacco cessation services that are offered across every state and US territory, Canadian provinces, and internationally. Available at no cost to participants ,quitlines help tobacco and vape users quit through a variety of service offerings, including individual telephonic counseling, online programs, text messaging programs, interactive and informative web/digital services information on FDA-approved cessation medications, self-help materials sent by mail or online, referral to other cessation resources, and—in most cases—free or discounted cessation medications.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION/SUMMARY OF ROLE
The CEO of NAQC reports to the Board and serves over 400 members in their tobacco cessation efforts.
NAQC is looking for a visionary and strategic leader who will reach audiences in creative, transformative and relevant new ways. The CEO will be knowledgeable about new technologies for marketing and delivering services as the landscape for tobacco cessation continues to evolve. The CEO will continue to use evidence based research while pushing the envelope to increase quitline participation.
The position has a team of four highly qualified staff, including an administrator; manager of public-private partnerships; manager of research and evaluation; and a senior consultant.
The CEO’s responsibilities include finance and fundraising, strategic planning, board support, partnership activities, policy development and advocacy, spokesperson activities, security, and oversight of program and membership services (communications, policy, research and training). NAQC is centered in equity and the CEO will espouse these values internally, to members and externally.
The CEO upholds and delivers NAQC’s mission and strategic goals to maximize the access, use, and effectiveness of quitlines; provides leadership and a unified voice to promote quitlines; and offers a forum to link those interested in quitline operations.
The position is remote. Some travel is expected for partnership and spokesperson activities.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
EXPERIENCE:
- 8 years of senior level experience in non-profit management, government or corporate management i
- Proven experience in tobacco cessation or related sector
- Inspirational leadership experience including board management
- Transformation/change management experience
- Knowledge of new technologies, marketing and branding, and best practices to eradicate tobacco use
- Policy, advocacy, and research skills
- High level communication skills, both verbal and written, including presentations and reports
- Demonstrated fundraising and relationship management capabilities
- Financial acumen and proficiency in strategic planning
- Experience in managing a large membership base a plus.
