Hybrid positions combine regular in-person presence at our Washington, DC, office with the option of at least two days of remote work each week. Responsibilities
Ready to contribute to Brookings success? The Development Officer (DO) is a key partner to the Senior Director of Development (SDD), the Senior Director of Principal Gifts and Strategic Initiatives (SDPGSI) and the broader Metro development team in meeting the program's fundraising goals, with attention to corporate and foundation donors. With oversight from the SDD, this position project manages and implements activities related to the recruitment, stewardship, renewal process for the Met Council Members (annual giving) and Metro's Advisory Circle (annually). This position will be active in CRM management, ensuring timely entry of data and prospect information while working closely with prospect research to identify and qualify a pipeline of new prospects for Metro and suggest and help implement paths for recruitment. . The position will work closely with colleagues throughout Brookings, including the research programs and Brookings' central development, communications, and finance offices. Development and Implementation of Metro's fundraising prospect activity and support (70%)

In this role, you will support Brookings values of collegiality, respect, inclusion, diversity and community, and bring the following qualifications: Education/Experience Requirements: Required: Bachelor's degree; Minimum of five years of professional and/or related experience; Excellent communication, database and spreadsheet skills, including the ability to enter and manipulate data. Preferred: Interest in public policy and economics; familiarity with fundraising in a non-profit environment; experience planning high-level meetings and coordinating event logistics. Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. Knowledge/Skills Requirements: Excellent interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills required. Must be attentive to detail, proactive, discreet and dependable. Must be able to exercise good judgment, take initiative, function independently and work in close cooperation with others. Must be able to project manage and coordinate a variety of tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines and consistently follow up on details. Must be a positive team player and demonstrate professional demeanor and attire. Must communicate in a clear and polite manner in person and on the phone. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and the capacity to quickly learn other types of software, including Raiser's Edge and Salesforce is required. Excellent writing, grammar, spelling, proofreading, and editing skills, and the ability to research information and compile it into a concise briefing. Additional Information: What can we offer you?
