Our dynamic Development Department is responsible for raising over $750 million annually to support the medical mission of the organization. The Planned Giving unit is responsible for securing over $125 million in 2022 from donors who have included MSF in their estate plans. The Planned Giving team at MSF-USA works to inspire Americans to engage with and contribute to MSF-USA through their estate plans. The Planned Giving team is charged with growing our long term planned giving revenue from individual donors through securing gifts from wills, trusts, beneficiary designations, Charitable Gift Annuities, and other estate plans.

 

Project

 

Under the leadership of the Associate Director of Planned Giving, the Planned Giving Engagement Manager helps implement our strategic plan to support the team’s ambitious Legacy, lead, and prospect growth goals. Managing the day-to-day running of the Planned Giving communications program, the role helps collaborate with MSF channel managers, research and analytics unit, external agencies, Planned Giving Associate, Planned Giving Officer(s), and others to implement a blend of personalized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.

The role drives integration by managing cross-channel campaigns and automated journeys that include mail, email, and digital advertising. This position is responsible for working closely with the Associate Director of Planned Giving to assist carrying out Planned Giving marketing campaigns and help refine the lead generation and qualification program.

Tasks

Work with the Associate Director of Planned Giving (ADPG) to help create and roll out best-in-class donor experience strategies to fulfill Planned Giving goals, objectives, and secure long-term revenue.

Assist ADPG in leading and improving campaigns and processes that drive planned gift inquiries, commitments, and upgrades.

Help ADPG coordinate the development, production, and execution of the planned gift stewardship and cultivation program across all channels (print, digital, webinars/events, and future channels) to meet key performance indicators, while improving the donor experience.

In close coordination with ADPG, handle day-to-day vendor and agency relationships and coordination with channel managers.

Ensures messaging and design of program is strong, consistent, in line with audience and brand guidelines, and agreed-upon content and fundraising strategy.

Manages stakeholder review and approval process, including providing edits, writing copy, and making recommendation as necessary.

Alongside ADPG, design and execute an annual calendar of creative and unique planned donor engagement opportunities, including in-person, mail, digital, and virtual events.

Continually evaluate to enhance the donor touchpoint experience to achieve a best-in-class program for the planned gifts file.

Lead the development and creative of compelling donor proposals, impact reports, and other individualized communications for key donors in collaboration with senior staff, other development colleagues, and grants team.

Monitor and analyze internal results and external trends; report out on performance and make recommendations to improve metrics and efficiencies.

As a part of the Planned Giving team contribute input in our brainstorming sessions which help inform our yearly Planned Giving annual plan and budget. Track PG Marketing expenses as compared to plans throughout the year for various campaigns.

Stay abreast of industry best-practices and support innovations in the planned gifts strategy.

Qualifications

Required

  • Five plus years progressive non-profit fundraising experience strongly preferred in Planned Giving.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Expert interpersonal skills combined with excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Aware of best practice in planned giving marketing and donor communications.
  • Knowledge about mass mailing, digital advertising, and lead qualification.
  • Understanding of budgeting and planning processes.
  • Expert level computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, Excel, spreadsheet, SharePoint, and database software. Knowledge of PG Calc, ROI, or NPSP/Salesforce preferred.
  • Expert ability to analyze and synthesize complex and sensitive material and use it to develop appropriate, well-informed messages to donors.
  • An eye for graphics, messaging, and sophisticated marketing to a high-value audience.
  • Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills.
  • Ability to effectively synthesis complex information and MSF’s voice with a donor-centric focus.
  • Excellent time management, attention to detail, and project management skills.
  • Enthusiastic “all hands-on deck” style team player; able to operate and collaborate across multiple teams and thrive in a fast-paced culture.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with staff at all levels, and ability to represent MSF with tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality.

Preferred

  • Experience with Non-Profit Success Pack NPSP/ Salesforce.
  • Experience with Sales Force Marketing Cloud.
  • Experience with Workfront or other digital project management systems.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Acrobat Pro & InDesign) a plus.

 

Expected to work in a hybrid remote work environment and come into the New York office a minimum of 2 times a week.
