About Jewish Food Society (JFS): JFS is a non-profit organization that works to preserve, celebrate, and revitalize Jewish culinary heritage from around the world in order to provide young adults with a meaningful connection to Jewish life and identity. Position Overview: JFS is seeking a dedicated and passionate Development Director to join the team at our New York City office. The Development Director will work closely and in collaboration with the Executive Director (ED) and Chief Operating Officer (COO) to devise and implement strategies to engage both foundations and individuals in supporting JFS’s mission and work. This is a unique opportunity to join a young and dynamic organization on the verge of significant expansion, to shape a new role within its dedicated team, and support it in making a real impact.
Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a comprehensive
fundraising strategy in partnership with the ED, that helps
articulate and achieve JFS’s mission and vision and supports
organizational growth.
Identify, cultivate, and engage
prospective donors and foundations with specific interests and/or
expertise in areas that align with JFS’s initiatives or strategic
priorities.
Conduct initial outreach to
prospective individuals and foundation prospects to determine
feasibility and fit.

Oversee and track the grant cycle and
manage grants from start to finish, including writing, submission
and reporting.

Manage stewardship of current donors
through consistent communication, regular updates throughout the
year, and invitations to relevant events and activities.
Maintain and manage an active list of
potential donors who are in the various stages of cultivation.
Create consistent language and
marketing materials to be used by board members and staff for
fundraising purposes.
Support board cultivation and
communication.
Qualifications:

Passionate about JFS’s mission and
vision and excited to join a fast-paced entrepreneurial
organization.
5+ years of experience in major gifts
development for a non-profit organization.
Experience in developing and
implementing fundraising strategies.
A history of successful grant
writing.

Strong verbal and writing
skills.
Comfortable with front-facing
communication with potential donors.
Well-organized with strong attention
to details.

Ambitious and highly motivated,
creative, and a committed team-player.
Compensation:
A full-time position with an annual salary of $100,000 -150,000, commensurate with experience.
