  The University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Dentistry (UMSOD) has an opportunity available for an Assistant Director of Annual Giving in the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. The Office of Development is responsible for raising funds, soliciting, and gathering monetary donations or gifts from annual solicitations in support of the School. The Assistant Director will coordinate UMSOD annual fund campaigns that acquire, renew, retain, and increase all levels of annual giving donors or alumni.

This position has a hybrid schedule that permits telework 2 days per week.

Primary Duties

    Coordinate UMSOD annual fund campaigns that acquire, renew, retain, and increase all levels of annual giving donors or alumni. These plans include annual giving metrics that are comprised of: total $’s raised; total number of events; participation of targeted prospects and donors; number of new donors/prospects acquired; number of new donors/prospects acquired at leadership level; total number of appeals. Contribute to annual solicitation calendar and work plans, which include setting goals, objectives, tactics and milestones. Formulate and execute effective communication/marketing materials and solicitation activities within specific market segments identified as having potential for the greatest growth, including creating and editing of all solicitation appeals. Coordinate regularly with UMSOD Development & Alumni Relations colleagues, department chairs, directors, unit administrators and other members of academic units and encourage faculty to broach fundraising ideas, provide introductory information to donors/prospects, and support event functions. Evaluate program results using market research and results from peer institutions to identify areas of success and revision. Participate in planning meetings, accept special assignments, assist colleagues and provide support for all ongoing programs and operations, as needed. Prepare routine reports on annual giving trends, donor participation, and fundraising costs, and analyze data for use in goal setting and planning, and for building strategies for the future. Execute strategic initiatives that may have internal or external impact and establish annual giving or alumni relations direction. Responsible for short and long-term projects and campaigns for the annual giving or alumni programs and activities. Prepare routine reports on annual giving trends, donor participation, and fundraising costs, and analyze data for use in goal setting and planning, and for building strategies for the future. Performs other duties as assigned.
  Qualifications    Education: Bachelor's degree

Experience: Three (3) years of development experience in annual giving, phone-a-thons, alumni relations, special events, or fundraising, or higher education development experience.

Hiring Range: $65,000 - $72,000, commensurate with education and experience.
