The American Diabetes Association is seeking Executive Director in  Seattle. This is a remote position that can be based within 100 miles of the location. In this role, you will improve the lives of those living with diabetes- which has been our mission for over 82 years!

ADA Executive Directors serve our mission as the leader that drives team members to meet fundraising goals by securing support from sponsorships and partnerships across peer-to-peer events (Step Out, Tour de Cure), corporate alliances, foundations and large donors in their communities. The ED is also responsible for leading a team consisting of other fundraising professionals and aligning the appropriate coaching, tools and support to drive their success. 

Executive Directors are also charged with building positive community relationships that position ADA as the leader in diabetes prevention and management.  Additionally, this role is responsible for recruiting local board of director volunteers and cultivating this relationship towards the benefit of our common goals in the communities we serve.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide strategic leadership, creating and executing fundraising strategies to raise up to $2.5 to 5 million annually depending on respective market.
  • Coach and lead team to tenaciously work to meet or exceed goals in support of our mission.
  • Collaborate with team members, peers and others across the organization to identify and maximize opportunities across the organization
  • Manage portfolio of high priority corporate and major gift prospects
  • Apply best practices and innovative ideas to optimize special events fundraising
  • Build diversified revenue streams beyond special events including corporate partnerships, foundations, retail campaigns, individual/major gifts and clubs and organizations funding
  • Maintain communication and engagement with local board of directors. Recruit members as needed to support our mission.
  • Enable and support effective volunteer leadership recruitment, stewardship, and engagement
  • Create a shared vision and sense of ownership and accountability with volunteers and staff
  • Communicate effectively and inspire others to high performance; promote accountability; remove barriers; support others to be creative and action-oriented; proactively anticipate needs to drive success
  • Identify, engage, and integrate community partners to deliver ADA’s community-based programs as developed by the ADA Scientific, Medical and Mission Division
  • Develop effective and ongoing relationships with media

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience in nonprofit development/ fundraising or related sales (health and community focused) experience
  • Established success in fundraising and non-profit leadership is preferred
  • Proven record of success management and revenue growth
  • Knowledge of product marketing/sales concepts
  • Outcome-driven with ability to respond to changing circumstances and priorities
  • Ability to manage and motivate groups and individuals
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work some nights and weekends- while this is a remote based role, in person meetings and attendance at events would be required.
