JOB DESCRIPTION:

To raise philanthropic support for Goucher College by participating in a wide range of activities related to the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of planned, major, and annual giving donors. Reporting to the Director of Development, the gift officer will be responsible for administering and monitoring all estates and life income gifts in which Goucher has been named a beneficiary. Additionally, the gift officer will participate and engage in planned giving professional development to maintain current knowledge and stay updated on best practices and manage marketing and event efforts directed at planned and major gift prospects.

 


REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Required:  Bachelor's degree

 

Professional Experience:

Required:  5 years of fundraising experience.

Knowledge of planned giving strategies and management.

Proven track record in annual giving, major giving and planned giving solicitations.

Preferred:  Experience in Higher education fundraising.

 


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Salary Range: $84,781 - $99743

 

  • Manage a portfolio of 125 planning giving and major gift prospects. Meet and communicate with prospects and/or their advisors, including emails, phone calls, and local and national face-to-face visits. Additionally, include strategy development, preparation of gift proposals, gift agreements, and other Goucher materials. Manage all appropriate follow up in accordance with the Office of Advancement policy and protocol and use of software.   
  • Manage the planned gift inventory, completing bi-annual audits of life income gifts and bequest follow up and communications.
  • Manage the Second Century Society of individuals who have made a planned gift commitment. This includes assigned and unassigned individuals. Plan and coordinate events for Second Century members and planned giving prospects at retirement communities, on campus, and at other appropriate locations and venues.
  • Work closely with the Office of Communications to prepare print and digital materials, including invitations, correspondence, solicitations, acknowledgments, brochures, webpages/website, quarterly newsletters, and other marketing tools in association with the planned giving program
  • Serve as part of the Major Gift team, helping to educate fellow gift officers on strategies for including planning giving materials in solicitations as well as participating in team presentations, strategy sessions, and programming.
  • Join the Chesapeake Planned Giving Council or equivalent organization to attend planned giving seminars, professional development opportunities, and learn about trends in planned giving, marketing, and strategies.
  • Other duties as assigned including staffing advancement and campus-wide events such as Alumni Weekend, Family Weekend, and Move-in Day.
