 At Guide Dogs for the Blind, we create exceptional partnerships between people, dogs, and communities. With a network of instructors, puppy trainers, donors, and volunteers, we prepare highly qualified guide dogs to serve and empower individuals who are blind or visually impaired throughout the U.S. and Canada. We are looking for a Donor Development Officer to join us at our San Rafael, CA location, with the possibility of remote or hybrid work.

What you’ll do:

  • Manage a prioritized portfolio of newly acquired and active mid-level donors with a primary focus on retention and upgrade strategies and tactics through ongoing cultivation and stewardship
  • Maximize the donor experience through developing and implementing engagement efforts
  • Oversee the midlevel Friend’s Society and major giving Leadership Circle groups and maintain strong relationships with ongoing donors through welcome letters, pledge reminders, donor walls, and other deliverables
  • Advocate for the best interests of the organization, donors, staff, and volunteers through philanthropic efforts and serving as a GDB ambassador
  • Record and analyze donor information using Salesforce to ensure effective engagement and a positive donor experience

 

The qualifications you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in nonprofit, cross-functional development
  • Strong relationship-building skills and organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, collaborate with team members, and resolve complex problems
  • Demonstrated experience utilizing various office-based applications, Salesforce experience preferred
