Position:   Director of Grants Initiatives

 

Duties: The Director of Grants Initiatives will facilitate the development and management of grant proposals and projects for the College. The Director will support the President and Executive Cabinet in tracking and managing all grant- related activities including building relationships with local and regional foundations for the purpose of grant award acquisition. The position will also be responsible for facilitating information dissemination internally and externally in relation to grant activities. The Director will be essential in creating a grants culture at RCC (Rock- land Community College) and develop a campus-wide strategic plan for grant development efforts.

 

The Director will be a proactive, consistently positive, and organized individual with strong leadership and project management skills and expertise. Experience in the grants development and management process is important, as well as skill in project coordination and using technology tools. The ability to interact with subject matter experts and to facilitate innovative connections across divisions and with grant teams is especially helpful. Familiarity with the federal regulations detailed in the Uniform Grant Guidance is needed to ensure grant management and compliance policies and processes are appropriate and will enable the College to remain compliant with funder requirements.

 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to governmental, foundation and corporate sources;
  • Work directly with faculty, staff, and external partners to ensure follow through on delivering information or expertise as assigned for grant application development;
  • Ensure compliance with all grant reporting requirements;
  • Support the strategic identification of government, corporate, foundation, and private funding prospects to match college priorities;
  • Facilitate the submission of high-quality proposals, narratives, applications and supporting documents in response to solicitations consistent with all college policies and procedures;
  • Generate revenues for College programs through timely submission of well-researched, well written, and well-documented grant proposals;
  • Research and interpret federal regulations detailed in the Uniform Grant Guidance; Facilitate and enforce grant development timelines, schedules, and tracking grant submissions and funding decisions;
  • Oversee and facilitate the collection, analysis, and reporting of data on the performance of program activities that are funded by federal, state, and private funding agencies;
  • Serve as a liaison to all funding agencies and organizations;
  • Coordinate follow-up on the status of submitted proposals;
  • Ensure development of proposal compliant budgets in collaboration with the Finance;
  • Enforce grant policies and processes, including approvals to pursue opportunities, submit proposals, and request program or budget modifications;
  • Maintain relationships with existing funding sources;
  • Cultivate relationships with new funding sources, including private grant-making foundations;
  • Manage grants coordinator and grant consulting firm;
  • Commit to building a robust, campus-wide grants culture;
  • Maintain confidentiality; and
  • Assist with other projects as

 

  Minimum Education, Skills and Abilities
  • Master’s degree or relevant certification/professional credential in appropriate
  • Experience managing a grants development and management operation preferred, ideally in a higher education environment;
  • Grant writing experience, ideally with a higher education focus;
  • Experience demonstrating a proven track record of securing new funding opportunities or supporting the grant development effort;
  • Ability to distinguish and identify funding opportunities appropriate for college programs;
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure;
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills;
  • Experience demonstrating organizational skills that ensure quality, on-time deliverables;
  • Proficiency in researching, interpreting, and analyzing diverse data;
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel), and database man- agreement skills; and
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and independently with purpose and ac- curacy in a fast-paced

 

Preferred Education, Skills and Abilities
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as a successful grant writer or managing a grant development and management operation;
  • Previous grant budget development, management, and evaluation experience;
  • Knowledge of grant application process, scoring criteria and funding cycles; and
  • Experience working with federal grant applications, submissions, approvals and management of
