Assistant Director, Alumni Relations

Job Description General purpose:

The Assistant Director of Alumni Relations reports directly to the Director of Annual Giving, Alumni Relations & Parent Engagement and is responsible for supporting strategies, programs and opportunities to increase alumni and constituent engagement for MICA on behalf of the Office of Advancement.

 

This position also plays a critical role in building the pipeline of donors by strategically engaging MICA alumni, donors, friends and parents and providing stewardship, prospect identification, cultivation and solicitations as assigned.

 

Summary of Essential Functions:

  • Implement a multi-channel communications approach across phone, email, video, social and direct mail to reach a broad base of alumni, parents and potential donors daily.

  • Build the Alumni Relations program including, and not limited to, planning and executing alumni engagement (e.g., MICA Weekend, reunions, special events, regional network events, student-alumni relations, career networking efforts, mentoring, volunteers' meetings and events) to meet MICA’s goals to engage alumni and connect them to the College.

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of leadership annual fund donors

  • Maintain a portfolio of approximately 50 prospects, GOLD alumni.

  • Use data to develop and execute strategies to connect with current and prospective donors.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with various departments to help foster alumni involvement and to advance all fund raising and stewardship visions and goal

  • Support existing and new engagement activities by identifying and securing speakers, volunteers and event participants; and attending events.

  • Work with the Annual Giving team to plan and implement fundraising initiatives to secure increased alumni participation to the Annual Fund.

  • Tracks/facilitates identification and moves management process and ensures accurate record keeping and integrity of the data in the Raiser’s Edge (RE) database

  • Manage in setting up key internal and some external meetings including arranging logistics for travel, meeting sites and confirmation with all attendees and supporting materials needed

  • Partner with the Annual Fund and Engagement team by tracking and monitoring budget for the various departments

  • Produce monthly MICA Community e-newsletter

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience and knowledge of supporting alumni relations and annual fund programs at a higher educational institute

  • Experience in events management, logistics, marketing and communications

  • Must maintain a high level of professionalism, honesty, and reliability and be able to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and volunteer management

  • Excellent research and proofreading skills

  • Ability to be flexible and take initiative as well as work independently

 

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in alumni relations, volunteer management, annual fund

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with non-profit world and the arts

  • Experience in higher education fundraising

  • Familiarity with fundraising databases, particularly Raisers Edge

  • Experience in volunteer management

 

Salary: $47,700.00 - $59,600.00
