The Executive Director will work in a co-CEO relationship with the Artistic Director, with both positions reporting to and working collaboratively with the Board of Trustees. It is, of course, critically important that the individuals in these two positions work in a cohesive and productive manner. The hiring of an Executive Director represents a new structure for Colorado Ballet and is a key component of its growth strategy. Previously, the Artistic Director, Director of Advancement, and Managing Director formed a triad structure. The central roles of the Executive Director are as follows:
- Build a deep and productive partnership with the Artistic Director and Board to strategically lead the Ballet into the future.
- Strategically align financial and human resources with organizational goals, objectives and aspirations in a way that will sustainably realize the strategic and artistic vision for the Ballet.
- Forge and maintain important external local/regional/national relationships.
- In concert with the Artistic Director, create a positive and productive working environment, achieve strong collaboration across the organization, and inspire others to produce and deliver their best work.
- Develop and support key fundraising relationships, especially with major donors, and continue the nurturing and growth of long-held partnerships.
- Ensure that the Academy continues to thrive as an essential programming arm.
- Manage, develop, and inspire a diverse team of direct reports, which will include the Directors of Advancement, Accounting , Facilities, the Executive Assistant, and any other positions that fall under the administrative functions of the Company.

Organizational Profile
For more than
six decades, Colorado Ballet has been Denver’s preeminent dance
company. Founders Lillian Covillo and Freidann Parker, both Denver
natives, created the Covillo-Parker School of Dance in 1951, which
would evolve into Colorado Concert Ballet within a decade. The
company became a fully professional organization in 1976 with a
roster of eight dancers. Two years later, the company’s name was
changed to Colorado Ballet. In 1987, Colorado Ballet and Tampa
Ballet created a joint partnership, sharing the same dancers and
artistic staff, with the company performing an equal number of
weeks in each city. After three years, the company moved to
Colorado fulltime, and the partnership was dissolved. Gil Boggs
(bio below) became Colorado Ballet’s fourth artistic director in
2006, overseeing the remarkable artistic and financial growth of
the company. Now one of the oldest and most successful arts
organizations in the region, Colorado Ballet continues to present
world-class productions with growing audiences and stature. Prior
to the pandemic, the Ballet experienced four of the most successful
years in its history, breaking both revenue and attendance
records.
