The Director of Data Solutions and Prospect Development is responsible for the strategic build-out of a centralized prospect management system in support of Viewpoint's annual and long-range fundraising and campaign goals. The Director will empower the advancement team and its volunteers through best practices in research, information organization, and data analytics while maximizing the latest technology solutions and modernizing legacy systems.

This position is critical to Advancement's efforts to ensure Viewpoint is building a sustainable and broad-based principal and major gifts pipeline by enhancing existing data tracking and reporting and upgrading existing systems.. The ideal candidate will be both data driven and research savvy and appreciate that these dual approaches to prospect development are critical to the sustained growth of philanthropy in a complex organization. This includes managing and enhancing all Advancement information and prospect research assets, including the constituent database and CRM, Givesmart, Zkipster, Research Point, iWave, Raiser’s Edge, PeopleGrove, SchoolAdmin, and other Blackbaud products. In addition to systems oversight and optimization, the Director will stay abreast of the latest tools and technology in the nonprofit sector and proactively analyze donor and prospect data to bolster fundraising strategies and outcomes, prepare data driven reports to leadership and volunteers, and make projections for the future. The Director also manages the Database Coordinator and is responsible for overseeing efficient and accurate gift processing, data tracking, and reconciliations with the Business Office.

Data Solutions, Reporting, Analytics, and Staff Training

  • Lead migration to NXT over the next two years
  • Compile analytical reports detailing fundraising statistics and donor trends
  • Produce daily, weekly, and monthly reports for gifts and campaigns, which includes Crystal Reports and queries to meet the specialized reporting needs of the Advancement Office
  • Ability to train new users, as well as offer refreshers to the team, one-on-one as well as in a group setting to ensure consistent best practice and optimized workflow
  • Work closely with the Director of the Viewpoint Fund and Assistant Head of School for External Affairs on revising and creating reports
  • Collaborate with other data specialists on campus including the Chief Innovation Officer and IT Director


Prospect Research and Portfolio Management

  • Lead and facilitate regular portfolio review meetings and prospect strategy sessions with frontline fundraisers.
  • Conceptualize and design pipeline, portfolio, and other prospect management reports.
  • Strategically build and regularly review and refine gift officers' portfolios of assigned donors, offer guidance in prioritizing for outreach, and track the progress of identification through the solicitation cycle.
  • Develop options for fundraisers to track their prospects/portfolios using custom reports, lists or dashboards.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required 

  • Data-driven and digital first mentality
  • Proven staff and project management experience, preferably in a cultural, independent school, or higher ed institution
  • Familiarity with Blackbaud hosted databases and Raiser's Edge NXT required and knowledge of Crystal Reports required
  • Ability to understand internal business processes and how they relate to functionality within Raiser's Edge and database best practices
  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of five years’ managing fundraising database efforts in a nonprofit institution
  • High level of professionalism, and excellent interpersonal relations and ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all constituents in a school environment
  • Blackbaud Fundamentals certified in Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge
  • Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Assistant Head of School for External Affairs
