Roundabout Theatre Company, the nation’s largest not-for-profit theatre, seeks a communicative, personable individual to join the company’s Development Department as Foundation Relations Manager. The position reports to the Director of Development, and serves as the senior writer for proposals, reports, and other collateral related to renewing existing partnerships and securing new support to achieve our mission. A successful candidate will be able to balance concurrent projects, liaise and manage support among several offices within the company, and supervise the Foundation and Government Giving Assistant.

 

This is some of what the Foundation Relations Manger will do:

  • Craft foundation grant proposals, letters of interest, reports, and any other necessary communications to secure general operating, artistic development, commissioning, education, capital, and other special project support
  • Work with business office to ensure financial fidelity on budgets and other financial reporting
  • Support one of three Directors of Development as a front-line point of contact for existing and prospective foundation funders
  • Oversee the work of the Foundation and Government Giving Assistant
  • Take part in site visits and other Development events as necessary
  • Provide support to development department special projects (campaigns, events) as needed

 

This is some of what the Foundation Relations Manager should know:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Three to four years’ experience in nonprofit development required. A passion for the performing arts is preferred. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills (language skills required: English). Must demonstrate ability to take direction, set and maintain priorities, balance demands of multiple tasks, and meet strict deadlines. Attention to detail and ability to take initiative a must. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook required. Knowledge of Tessitura or related CRM database preferred.

Besides the requisite technical skills, the right candidate will show excellent persuasive writing and editing skills, as well as a keen attention to detail. Must also be comfortable leading staff and interacting directly with donors, including conducting in-person program site visits with foundation stakeholders.

This person will work on a hybrid schedule (three days in our administrative office, two from home). Some evening and weekend work is required. The salary for this position ranges from $59,000 - $63,000 annually, depending on experience.
