We are currently seeking to fill our Annual Giving Officer position at the Philadelphia campus with a highly qualified and passionate individual.


For more than a century, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) has trained highly competent, caring physicians, health practitioners and behavioral scientists who practice a "whole person" approach—treating people, not just symptoms. PCOM has honed an educational experience that incorporates academic rigor, faculty-student mentorship and collaboration, bench and community-based research, and pedagogical methods that emphasize hands-on opportunities to learn effective and culturally competent care. Whether they are studying at the Philadelphia, Georgia, or South Georgia location, PCOM students learn the importance of health promotion, research, education, and service to the community.  As the 125th anniversary draws ever closer, PCOM remains true to its legacy and maintains an osteopathic approach with each expansion to better meet the needs of students and communities.

The Annual Giving Officer (AGO) reports to the Director of Annual Giving and is responsible for facilitating the funding priorities of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) by identifying, cultivating, and soliciting alumni, employees, friends and prospective donors.  The AGO handles activities to support the pipeline of annual gifts under $10,000.  The AGO shall also be actively engaged in identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of prospective donors to make gifts between $1,000 and $10,000 and achieve personal fundraising goals.     

The AGO works independently and also as a member of the Institutional Advancement (IA) team.  They coordinate their activities with those of other units in Institutional Advancement and with other units at PCOM.  This position is based on the Philadelphia, PA campus.  

-Handle the logistics of multiple solicitation channels including, but not limited to, direct mail, email, texting, giving days, crowdfunding, and phone campaigns.
-Handle the implementation of annual giving direct mail and electronic solicitation campaigns which includes, but is not limited to, determining effective segmentation, creating and writing content, securing necessary approvals, and working with campus partners and vendors on processing and distribution.
-Handle aspects of PCOM Together, the College’s employee giving campaign including, but not limited to, identifying, cultivating, and soliciting PCOM employees for gifts in support of the College’s funding priorities.
-Manage a portfolio of alumni prospects, ensuring strategies towards solicitation through regular interactions using personal or virtual visits, mail/email, telephone, and other activities.
-Support targeted campaigns such as brick pavers, donor display board, reunion giving, young alumni giving, and class giving.
-Partner and collaborate regularly with development team so as to effectively move engaged donors/prospects through the fundraising pipeline (annual giving to major/planned giving).
-Attend and assist with Institutional Advancement events and activities as needed.
-Assume and achieve annual fundraising and activity goals as specified in the performance expectations document attached.
-Other duties as assigned and/or requested.

Bachelor’s degree required
Preference of 2-4 years of experience in annual giving preferably within higher education


-Ability to work independently and be self-motivated in initiating contacts with potential donors.
-Broad knowledge of the principles of fundraising and an ability to participate in all aspects of the gift cycle.
-Outstanding verbal, written, communication, listening, and organizational skill.
-Ability to effectively utilize technology including, but not limited to, Salesforce, Banner 10, Blackbaud, and iModules.
-Knowledge of IRS and FASB laws, rules, and regulations is preferred along with thorough knowledge of fundraising and solicitation best practices, policies, procedures, and method.
-Ability to work some weekends and evenings.

A driver’s license is required.

Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.

No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
