Under the direction of the Administrator, assists in the development of and implementation of strategies, programs and initiatives intended to develop monetary support to the Ohlone College Foundation. Recruits and solicits donors; creates and maintains program specific tracking systems for fundraising, reports, records and files; coordinates high-level donor solicitations. Coordinate and develop relationships with the campus community, community leaders, and potential private and public donors.


  1. Work collaboratively with the Executive Director and the Foundation Board on the development, design, and implementation of a comprehensive program of activities for a fundraising program to generate philanthropic gift support for the Ohlone College Foundation;
  2. Identify, solicit, and cultivate major potential donors including efforts to increase donations through the implementation of strategies and campaigns aimed at specific populations with demonstrated and potential contribution trends;
  3. Create, maintain, and provide reports for a donor database of current and prospective donors including creating a portfolio of major individual donors and businesses;
  4. Develop and maintain a database of production materials for targeted solicitations and donor recognition;
  5. Lead and facilitate fundraising efforts to meet the goals of the Foundation Fundraising Plan;
  6. Plan and execute fundraising events such as the annual gala and golf tournament; annual scholarship award ceremony; career fairs; community mixers; and other campus fundraisers;
  7. Implement a strategic and focused marketing campaign through messaging, organizing committee meetings, providing marketing materials, and outreach to potential donors based on targeted solicitation lists(s);
  8. Plan and design event programs including draft scripts and production of marketing materials;
  9. Utilize available resources and databases, as well as networking, to develop a list of corporate and foundation prospects deemed to be of strategic value in fulfilling the goals and objectives of the College;
  10. Identify key public and private prospects, develop strategies and plan initiatives to network, cultivate and solicit prospective donors to help raise funds for the Foundation;
  11. Prioritizes solicitations in alignment with the College's priorities, which include, but are not limited to: Ohlone Promise Scholarship Endowment, college academic and student support programs, and campus improvements;
  12. Generate marketing copy and marketing materials for campaigns and general outreach to include solicitation letters, flyers and brochures, social media, press releases, news articles;
  13. Develops and implements prospect strategy counsel and training to campus stakeholders, Foundation board members, and Foundation staff who are working with donor prospects;
  14. Implement outreach strategies to promote Ohlone College and specific programs in need of funding including representing the Foundation at various business and community events, hosting on campus events and coordinating and hosting campus visits for prospects and donors;
  15. Implement the scholarship program to include creating the application and evaluation process for granting awards, steward gifts and donors in accordance with donor restrictions, and planning the award ceremony;
  16. Participate in the record retention process and ensures records are retained in compliance with District and Foundation policies and procedures;
  17. Maintain stewardship contacts with donors and responds to opportunities for support from corporations and foundations;
  18. Collaborate with Business in the recognition of gifts and donations, reconciliation, process and tracking to ensure IRS guidelines; Provide necessary reports to the Executive Director;
  19. Provide backup for other Foundation staff and participates in Foundation events;
  20. Compile, calculate costs and send invoices to event or program participants and process payments for operational and special event invoices;
  21. Demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of students, faculty, staff, and
  22. Effectively engage and support historically disproportionately impacted groups by addressing issues of equity and improving culturally responsive service-oriented practices.
  23. Attend a variety of meetings as assigned;
  24. Perform other related duties as assigned.


  1. Methods, strategies and practices of effective private and public fundraising and donor development for educational institutions;
  2. Principles and practices of fund development techniques;
  3. Professional ethical standards and practices as identified and agreed to by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) or a similar body;
  4. Community relations and outreach;
  5. Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations related to foundations and gift receipts;
  6. Principles and practices of sound business communication;
  7. Basic mathematical calculations.

Any combination equivalent to a bachelor’s degree with course work in business administration, public administration, public relations, communication or a closely related field or the equivalent AND three years of work experience directly related to the responsibilities of this classification.

Must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.


  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License


This position requires physical abilities needed to work in a standard office setting, including but not limited to: standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods; occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and twisting; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling light and moderate amounts of weight; operating office equipment which may require repeated fine motor skills (e.g.: keyboard use); and the ability to communicate in written and verbal forms.  The position requires vision and hearing in normal ranges (with or without correction) sufficient to operate any assigned equipment and the ability to clearly communicate with others in written and verbal forms.
