Job Description National Conference for Community and Justice Date: September 2022 Title: Development and Marketing Manager Department: Development and Marketing Reports to: President and Chief Executive Officer Position Overview: Oversee day-to-day responsibility for development of a strong marketing campaign and diversified funding streams in alignment with NCCJ mission, values, and vision. Position Status: Full-time, Exempt RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develop solid strategic communication and fundraising plans in support of NCCJ branding strategies in alignment with our mission, vision, programs, and goals. • Conduct on-going donor research, identifying new potential foundations, and corporations whose funding priorities align with NCCJ’s purpose and intent. • Plan and execute an annual calendar of proposal submissions, tracking and follow-up reporting. • Establish and/or maintain effective relationships with foundation program officers and corporate funders through inquiry letters, informal updates, and timely reporting. • Ability to write compelling grants. • Manage the timely distribution of on-line donations and appeals (Giving Tuesday, end-of-year campaign, holiday appeal, summer thank-you letter, etc.). • Collect, enter, track, and analyze all donor information into the Salesforce database system. • Generate, prepare, and present reports and list segmentations for mailings and for analysis. • Create an array of marketing materials (newsletter, blog, annual reports, etc.). • Manage NCCJ’s website (Shulcloud and WordPress) design and content, including developing website messages based on current events and trends using a social justice lens. • Maintain all social media sites including but not limited to Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Vimeo, You Tube, Pinterest, Etsy, Tumblr, etc. • Identify and engage with media outlets (magazines, newspapers, TV, radio, etc.) • Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure fundraising and relationship-building goals are achieved. • Engage with program participants and respective clients on capturing “mission moments” for the purpose of sharing the community impact. 2 • Initiate planning meetings and related activities, maintaining momentum and execution of tasks leading up to each event. • Ensure the timely distribution of invitations, and track guest list and payments. • Support in all post-event activities, including acknowledgments to donors and to volunteers, event evaluation, etc. • Document programming and other events for marketing purposes, maintain a catalog of photos, videos, and audio. • Represent NCCJ at conferences, seminars, and other development and marketing events. • Participate in professional development opportunities, including in-house social justice and anti-racism programs. Perform other duties as directed or as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: • 3-5 years’ working in developing development and marketing sector preferred. Skills: • Excellent writing and communication skills, including the ability to write compelling grants and other appeals to institutional and individual donors. • Demonstrated skill with social media tools and platforms. • Strong project management and events management skills, including the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and activities under strict deadline pressures. • Attention to detail essential. • Familiarity with donor databases and good data entry skills. • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with staff and diverse external stakeholders. • Experience working in children, youth, and adults. • Social justice awareness preferred. Education/Training: • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Time Obligations: • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed to ensure the successful execution of events and other deadline-driven responsibilities.
