Reporting to the Associate Director, Philanthropic
Partnerships in the Institutional Advancement division, works
collaboratively with the Major Gifts and IA staff to build
philanthropic support for Berklee. The Assistant Director supports
frontline fundraisers with cultivation, solicitation, and
stewardship activities to advance the philanthropic interests of
Berklee and our donors.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
1. Prospect and Volunteer
Management/Engagement (50%)
- Support face-to-face engagement of frontline fundraisers with donors, including, but not limited to board meetings, campaign events, and other donor-related events;
- Compose major giving-related communications, including case statements, one-pagers, and giving opportunities;
- Create and finalize gift agreements in collaboration with major gifts officers;
- Track the progress of gift proposals and prospect portfolio activities in Raiser’s Edge NXT;
- Track follow-up of prospects and potential prospects following events and key meetings;
- Create and maintain prospect lists for priority program areas, including tracking in Raiser’s Edge NXT.
- Develop and update philanthropic gift opportunities;
- Partner with frontline fundraisers to prepare and finalize gift proposals;
- Provide ideas, input, and support to initiatives, decisions, and communications with donor relations and stewardship implications; and,
- Disseminate information on philanthropic initiatives to the broader Advancement team and campus partners.
- Enter and monitor donor contact activities in advancement systems and share/collaborate with relevant partners; and
- Prepare and deliver workflow updates in team meetings.
- 3-5 years of experience, with nonprofit and higher education environment preferred;
- Demonstrated experience in fundraising environment with the ability to develop, execute, and manage strategic efforts with donors;
- Strong written and oral communication skills;
- Keen attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Familiarity with office and information systems, such as Raiser's Edge;
- Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of various word processing, desktop publishing, database management, and spreadsheet systems;
- Ability to work successfully with Berklee trustees, senior administrators, faculty and college offices;
- Some familiarity with contemporary music, leading musical figures, and music technology preferred;
- Bachelors degree required.
The work location for this position is hybrid, with some remote work expected.
