Development Director (Flexible, 32 hours weekly)

The Bannerman Castle Trust, Inc. (BCT) is a growing not-for-profit organization and New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation "Friends Group" dedicated to the preservation of the historic Bannerman Castle and structures on Pollepel (a.k.a. Bannerman’s) Island in the Hudson Highlands State Park.  The BCT seeks an experienced Development Director, responsible for major fundraising efforts to facilitate capital projects for the emergency stabilization and adaptive reuse of the island’s historic structures for public tours and programming.

Job Description

Reporting to the BCT’s Executive Director, the Development Director is responsible for the implementation of a fundraising work plan, procuring significant donors, preparing and submitting grant applications, and planning and assisting with special fundraising events.  Fundraising Focus is;

(1) Stabilization and restoration of historic structures, (2) Improving tour boat vessel and dock, and (3) Developing a performing arts space to support theatrical, concert and arts events.  Major focus includes securing grants and gifts of adequate size to support significant on-island renovation and programming.

 

Responsibilities
Develop and execute a Bannerman Castle Trust, Inc. annual fundraising plan.
Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors.
Create and execute a strategy for a large, sustained base of annual donors.
Oversee organization for special fundraising events.
Develop and track grant proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising. submitting grant applications, and planning and assisting with special fundraising events.  Fundraising Focus is;
