Business Analysis Manager

 

ASU Enterprise Partners, a private, nonprofit organization comprised of five subsidiaries that raise, create and invest resources for Arizona State University, is seeking a Business Analysis Manager to join the Strategic Insights & Planning team.

 

The Business Analysis Manager reports to the Senior Strategic Planning Officer and is responsible for driving complex, strategic, and cross-functional work across ASU Enterprise Partners (ASUEP) and its affiliates.  This role will manage and oversee budget development, budget monitoring, and funding requests and will also be responsible for identifying trends, expenditures analyzing, synthesizing, and presenting budget-related data.  The Business Analysis Manager will collaborate with various departments within the organization to establish and maintain budget plans to meet annual budgetary requirements as well as improve efficiencies within the organization.

 

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all budget-related activities and develop accompanying processes and strategies
  • Lead the development and implementation of annual operating budgets for ASUEP and affiliates and recommend budget actions where appropriate
  • Lead the projection of the annual budget forecast across the organization
  • Partner with various internal and external stakeholders as it pertains to budget development and departmental impact
  • Forecast financial needs of ASUEP and affiliates in connection with established and future budget plans
  • Responsible for processing, loading, and validating data flowing through budget information systems to ensure data integrity
  • Analyze monthly budget vs. actual results; develop annual forecasts; research variances as needed
  • Prepare and present budget analyses to leadership teams across ASUEP and affiliates
  • Liaise and collaborate with members of the Strategic Insights & Planning and Finance teams to ensure consistency between annual budget/forecast and long-range financial planning
  • Remain proactive and perform ongoing environmental scans to ensure continuous process improvements efforts are met
  • Participate in the future implementation of new planning and budgeting software, including transitioning current processes into new systems
  • Manage and oversee direct reports emphasizing teamwork, the timely completion of tasks, and individual career and professional development
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

What you’ll need:

 

  • Excellent analytical skills for interpretation of budgetary, financial, and related management information, along with attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to effectively build relationships across the organization and lead with integrity
  • Strong computer literacy and ability to assess, recommend and implement planning and budget system changes
  • Knowledge and skill in project management best practices to lead the development of budgets across all parts of the organization
  • Ability to synthesize information across multiple platforms, systems, and organizations
  • Strong time management skills; ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Problem solver who can take initiative and set priorities while being flexible 
  • Collaborative style, combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environment 
  • Team-oriented strategist able to effectively manage complex situations involving numerous and sometimes competing constituencies
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (including tables, charts, pivot tables, and complex formulas)
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to Enterprise Partners, its subsidiaries and University business and confidential prospect information
  • Strong and collegial interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and by phone
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to represent the institution well

  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing assigned duties
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects
  • Adept at navigating complex environments with evolving priorities and communication plans

 

 

Relevant qualifications:

 

Bachelor's degree with a minimum of six (6) years experience in managing fiscal services such as budget development, forecasting, or analysis of financial data.  Business analysis experience sufficient to prepare complex and detailed financial and budgetary analyses and to address a variety of financial issues is required.

 

Experience utilizing Workday Adaptive Planning is a plus.

Working conditions:

 

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. May be required to perform tasks in the field within and/or across University campuses. Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions. This position may require some early mornings and evenings to accommodate meetings and events. This position currently requires you to work from the office Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays with Monday and Friday optional remote days.

Working equipment:

 

This position will require a Surface/laptop computer, desk telephone, a mobile communication device ($30 bi-weekly payroll reimbursement).
