Financial Analyst

 

ASU Enterprise Partners, a private, nonprofit organization comprised of five subsidiaries that raise, create and invest resources for Arizona State University, is seeking a Financial Analyst to join the Finance team.

 

The Financial Analyst is responsible for a wide range of analytical support, special projects, and reporting in collaboration with, and in support of, the Finance and Strategic Insights and Planning departments.  The Financial Analyst liaises with Accounting and Strategic Insights and Planning to provide support of monthly financial and plan review.  The Financial Analyst is responsible for internal reporting, Board reporting, and preparation of annual industry surveys.  The Financial Analyst reports to the Assistant Treasurer and works closely with members of the Finance and Strategic Insights and Planning team.

 

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Collaborate and provide analysis and support for ongoing financial management, monthly financial plan, and future year budget information with the Strategic Insights and Planning team
  • Monitor and analyze the monthly financial plan versus actuals to identify variances, coding, or reclassing entries for Accounting
  • Liaise with the Accounting and Strategic Insights and Planning team to maintain data and execute adjustments in the budget and financial systems
  • Review financial and variance reports to maintain integrity of financial data
  • Prepare ad-hoc reporting and analysis
  • Assist in the design and management related to ongoing enhancements of reports and analytics tools
  • Prepare, analyze, and review the quarterly Treasurer board reports and annual budget slides for the Treasurer utilizing the planning system
  • Prepare monthly internal reporting for the Finance department including net asset projections, National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) monthly report, proformas and other as needed
  • Prepare annual industry surveys, including the Voluntary Support of Education (VSE), Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and NACUBO-TIAA Study of Endowments (NTSE) surveys, and others as needed
  • Promote collaboration throughout ASU Enterprise Partners and provide administrative and project support to the Assistant Treasurer and other team members as needed
  • Other duties as assigned  

 

 

What you’ll need:

 

  • Knowledge of accounting and accounting principles sufficient to assist in the preparation of financial and budgetary analyses
  • Ability to understand financial systems including relational databases, enterprise planning technologies, and business analytics tools
  • Strong skill in Microsoft Excel including tables, charts, pivot tables and complex formulas
  • Excellent analytical skills for interpretation of budgetary, financial, and related management information along with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Collaborative style, combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environment 
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to Enterprise Partners, its subsidiaries and University business and confidential prospect information
  • Strong and collegial interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and by phone
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Problem solver who can take initiative and set priorities while being flexible 
  • Team-oriented strategist able to effectively manage complex situations involving numerous and sometimes competing constituencies
  • Ability to represent the institution well

Relevant qualifications:

 

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Management, Accounting, or related field and 3-5 years of professional experience as a financial analyst preferred.  Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved will also be considered. 

 

 

Mental demands:

 

Clarity of focus while juggling complex projects or deadlines.

 

 

Working conditions:

 

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. May be required to perform tasks in the field within and/or across University campuses. Ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see and hear to perform essential functions. This position may require some early mornings and evenings to accommodate meetings and events. This position currently requires you to work from the office Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays with Monday and Friday optional remote days.
