NPR Development, working together with staff at NPR Member Stations, plays a critical role in supporting NPR's mission by creating opportunities for philanthropic investment that grows the impact of public service journalism. To grow support from our millions of engaged digital users, we are creating a Digital Fundraising team. This position is a key part of that team.
Our ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strategic mind. They thrive in fast-paced environments like digital news. They will be collaborative, yet decisive. They will feel comfortable communicating between multiple teams, stakeholders and executives.
This person will manage simultaneous projects, programs, and deliverables efficiently and effectively. They should be passionate about the sustainability of journalism and have an interest in seeking information on the latest innovations and opportunities for NPR.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties
- Craft data-driven digital fundraising strategies to activate users on NPR Digital platforms

Assist in development ambitious
annual goals; meet annual acquisition targets
Identity and prioritize fundraising
opportunities on digital platforms that acquire new supporters for
the NPR Network and NPR Member stations
Identify segments at-risk for
attrition, support long-term strategies and plans to retain and
increase lifetime value of digital supporters
Measure, monitor, and optimize
performance across multiple channels
Present concepts and deliverables to
stakeholders and teams across the organization
Contract and onboard consultants,
vendors, and agencies to optimize results, as needed

Manage interdepartmental
acquisition campaigns across paid, owned, and earned
media.

Writes key messages, creative briefs,
and technical information for teams to turn into digital
fundraising materials; as needed create digital fundraising
materials.
Set and meet campaign goals,
milestones that roll up to meeting annual acquisition goals
Drive complex campaigns from kick-off
through execution; Manage timelines, approvals, comms, and
reports.
Lead meetings that drive
progress/momentum and foster collaboration across teams
Develop effective digital fundraising
materials that meets the needs of fundraisers across the NPR
Network
Manage an annual calendar,
prioritizing revenue opportunities across multiple initiatives
- Build trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders that drive digital fundraising results

Collaborate with product owners to
identify and deploy new opportunities to increase revenue from
audiences on NPR digital platforms
- Work with product owners to optimize landing pages and donations forms
- Work with NPR’s Member Partnership team to identify and communicate digital revenue opportunities and plans to Member stations
- Work with Member station specialists, consultants, vendors, and agencies to optimize results

different perspectives
- Communicate plans and results across teams

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in work experience preferred)
WORK LOCATION: This is a remote permitted role. This role is based out of our Washington, D.C. office but the employee may choose to work on a remote basis from a location that NPR approves.
REQUIRED SKILLS
-
6+ years experience in digital
marketing and/or digital fundraising
Experience in a podcasting, news,
and/or non-profit news organization
Outstanding collaboration skills with
a proven ability to work cross-functionally and gain the respect
and support of internal and external clients
A keen interest in the fundraising
landscape, with knowledge of the latest trends and best practices
that drive audience conversion and retention
Experience working closely with
creative people, teams and freelancers to build campaign assets
(video, audio, display, email, social, and emerging platforms)
Cultivate and promote diversity,
equity, and inclusion in the workplace
Cultivate and support an inclusive
and equitable workplace culture
PREFERRED SKILLS
-
Hands-on experience working with CRM
systems, email and social marketing tools, and analytics tools
(Salesforce, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Social Flow, Google
Analytics ideal)
Experience with digital marketing
automation tools. Bonus: hands-on experience with
Piano.io.
