Job Overview  

The Strategic Engagement Specialist supports the Advancement department, a collegial, fast-paced fundraising office that serves the entire School community. As a critical member of a 10-person collaborative team, this individual will support experienced major and principal gift fundraisers who are spearheading Chapin’s exciting new campaign and will demonstrate best practices of prospect management, stewardship, and database management. The Strategic Engagement Specialist reports to the Director of Major Gifts and Strategic Engagement.

 

The Strategic Engagement Specialist will be a focused, detail-oriented professional who is capable of:

  • Managing data in major gifts pipelines
  • Supporting high level volunteer meetings
  • Coordinating research and data input from our research firm
  • Updating and uploading information on Raiser’s Edge
  • Data analysis projects
  • Work with gift officers to provide database support (including planned giving)
  • Manage Donor Report process
  • Manage Donor Digest process
  • Streamline gift processing and reconciliation
  • Supporting overall Advancement and school events as needed
  • Ability to work with individuals from across the school community, as well as with key volunteers to advance philanthropic efforts

 

Qualifications

Required 

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3 – 4 years of experience in a fundraising office in an education or other non-profit setting
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge or other development database
  • A strong communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize a variety of projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Mac operating systems

Preferred

  • Comfort with multiple software systems
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to working with multiple team members' styles
  • A collaborative, organized colleague dedicated to working as a member of a team
