Summary:

The Data Developer is responsible for writing reports using SQL for campus partners in addition to the Alumni, Communications and Philanthropy division. This position will use various querying applications to extract data for reporting or communication purposes. This involves compiling, formatting, and evaluating data for accuracy. The Data Developer is responsible for creating ad hoc queries that meet solutions for end users.

 

Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education required to ensure success in this position: 

Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Math, Computer Science, or Economics

Experience required to ensure success in this position:

3 years of experience in creating ad hoc queries using SQL.

Database experience and knowledge/capacity to oversee the entry and use of prospect information in a complex development database; ability to manipulate and retrieve data.

Organizational ability – timeliness; prioritization and management of multiple and diverse tasks.

Demonstrated ability to work in a team, as well as collaboratively with others in a collegial setting, taking a leadership role when appropriate.

Experience with training end users of systems.

Experience or aptitude to learn and transition software or database systems.

Attention to detail.

An in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), relational databases, banded reports, and querying tools (Banner, ARGOS, CRM Advance), preferred.

SQL programming preferred.

Understanding of data and terminology used in alumni/development work.

Excellent communication skills and ability to translate end user problems/questions into database, query, or report solutions.

Creative and logical thinker.

License, certification, or registration necessary:

Valid Driver’s License

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Manage data systems associated with the Alumni, Communications and Philanthropy divisional standards.

Create reports and dashboards using SQL and train staff to utilize.

Improve, enhance, and automate reporting for both scheduled and ad hoc queries.

Provide guidance on identifying and storing data to allow for better data extraction.

Work with leadership and divisional colleagues to record and track department and staff performance through metric dashboards, when appropriate.

Develop a thorough understanding of gift processing and donor information procedures.

Create queries to extract data and prepare files for alumni and non-alumni communication pieces.

Upload information in the database from mass communications including but not limited to direct mail solicitations, event invitations, e-solicitations, etc.

Assist with transitions of database or software systems, when necessary.

Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty and students.
