Since its founding in 2006, Success Academy (SA) has created the highest-performing public school district in New York State and a national model of access to excellence for children across all demographics. WittKieffer is proud to partner with SA as it recruits a Director of Advancement (DoA) to lead a frontline staff and partner with SA's Chief Advancement Officer to lead an historic $500 million campaign.

Success Academy currently enrolls more than 20,000 children in 49 elementary, middle, and high schools, and the majority of SA scholars are children of color from low-income households in disadvantaged neighborhoods, admitted through a random public lottery. Success Academy's distinctive K-12 approach, designed as a holistic thirteen-year educational trajectory, leads to student outcomes that outpace even those in affluent suburban schools. To date, 100% of SA's graduates have been accepted to college, many to highly selective institutions. Most are the first in their families to have the opportunity for higher education. In addition, SA regularly share its groundbreaking curriculum and methods with educators and school leaders across the country. By scaling excellence and reigniting the civic mission of education, Success Academy is leading a movement to reinvent public education. All children can thrive and achieve in school, in college, and in life — SA students and teachers prove it every day.

To help realize its ambitions, Success Academy seeks an extraordinarily ambitious and imaginative Director of Advancement who possesses a collaborative spirit and the energy to propel the historic $500 million comprehensive campaign undertaken in 2021. In partnership with SA founder Eva Moskowitz and Chief Advancement Officer Paula Hunchar, the ideal candidate will contribute to the continued growth of the organization as it pursues its goals of operating 100 schools in New York and providing 50,000 scholars an excellent educational experience.

The next Director of Advancement will possess the acumen necessary to produce innovative results that align with an agile and effective development program scaled to the needs of Success Academy and scalable for the future. They will be an inspirational and highly effective communicator, storyteller and ambassador with the ability to articulate the mission and vision of the academy to a wide array of individual, corporate, and foundation donors. In addition, they will inspire others to invest in the future of Success Academy and in the students and families who rely on philanthropy to realize their dreams. The ideal candidate will also stay abreast of new trends in principal giving and provide leadership and mentorship to a talented frontline fundraising team.
