Lycoming College is hiring a Senior Major Gift Officer!  This position is responsible for raising financial support for Lycoming College’s educational mission by soliciting individuals and organizations for annual, major, and planned gifts.  The Senior Major Gift Officer manages a portfolio of donors to develop and cultivate relationships with alumni and friends of the College, to encourage leadership annual gifts and to solicit outright major and planned gifts of $25,000 or more.

What will I do in this role?

  • Conduct 100+ personal or virtual visits annuals from a portfolio of up to 150 assigned prospects to cultivate their interests in and increase their support of the College.
  • Solicit major and planned gifts of $25,000+ for capital needs, special programs and endowments.
  • Conduct discovery visits with qualified prospects as identified by the Director of Advancement Operations to determine their philanthropic interests and capacities.
  • Spend 75% of time with or working on prospects and generally cultivating increased engagement with alumni and friends of the College.
  • Assist the Associate Vice President for Major and Planned Gifts in the development and maintenance of processes, procedures for documenting planned gift intentions, including membership in the Tower Society.
  • Assist in the development and execution of a marketing strategy to encourage planned giving, including the gift planning newsletters; e-newsletters, a planned giving website, mailings, etc.
  • Assist in implementation and execution of capital campaigns, fundraising strategies, management of volunteers, and special projects.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Proven success in fundraising or similar client relationship-based field of at least three years; preferably in a higher education environment
  • High motivation for success, coupled with diplomacy, tact, and consistent follow through.
  • Willingness and ability to travel, along with a valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable of the College’s insurance.
  • Ability to forge strong working relationships with others and a capacity for engaging confidence and trust among prospects and donors
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evening and weekend hours in addition to the regular workday.
