Children’s National Hospital Foundation seeks an experienced development writer to join our dynamic team. The Senior Associate Director, Editorial & Development Strategy, Marketing & Communications, plays a key role in engaging and inspiring donors to support the hospital's mission to improve children's health through strategic messaging, storytelling and significant fundraising solicitations. They will develop major gift proposals, donor stewardship reports, talking points, magazine stories, media releases, ads and other high-impact marketing communications across all channels. They will collaborate with hospital and foundation leaders, fundraisers, graphic designers and other stakeholders. This role requires excellent command of language, the ability to successfully translate pediatric and scientific information through compelling narratives on deadline, strategic and creative thinking, editing of others' work and a high degree of independence. 

Washington DC area location; remote work possible

  Qualifications Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree (Required)

Required Work Experience
5 years experience writing in a professional setting 
3 years experience in development (fundraising, donor relations) preferably in a healthcare setting 

Required Skills/Knowledge
Outstanding research and interviewing skills
Excellent writing and editing skills; delivery of clear, concise, compelling copy
Interest in pediatric medicine Ability to translate complex medical research and clinical information
Knack for finding and telling compelling stories
Ability to collaborative effectively with diverse stakeholders
Ability to juggle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
Versatility and flexibility; able to communicate through a variety of platforms
Strong organizational and project management skills
Attentiveness to detail; impeccable accuracy; consistency of style and tone
Commitment to editorial excellence and organizational mission
Strong oral communication skills
Ability to use AP style
Customer service-oriented work style
Ability to edit and mentor junior writers
