Executive Director of Gift Planning.


The Executive Director of Gift Planning will serve as the University's lead planned gift strategist and a key development and administrative leader for Advancement and Alumni Engagement overseeing and ensuring the success of the Office of Gift Planning. The successful candidate is responsible for managing the office and a staff comprised of gift planning officers and support staff who ensure that a high level of donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship occurs.

This position calls for a strategic visionary who thrives in a complex and fast-paced environment and has a track record of success in principal and planned gift fundraising in an academic institution or other comprehensive nonprofit organization. Experience as an estate attorney and financial planner will also be considered.

Responsibilities:(partial list)
• Provide leadership to and manage the Office of Gift Planning.
• Create and manage the goals, annual plans, and budget of the Office of Gift Planning and ensure appropriate alignment with unit's yearly plans.
• Evaluate and update gift planning operations, procedures, and marketing and training programs.
• Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward planned giving prospective donors for gifts to support University priorities.

Minimum Requirements:
• A bachelor's degree and eight years of experience in gift and estate planning in the private sector, higher education, or other nonprofit organization.
• Minimum of five years managing staff.
• Experience working with bequests, trusts, tax deferred gifts, and life income gifts with a strong working knowledge of tax, trust, and other laws affecting charitable planning.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with attention to detail, the ability to work with ambiguity, and navigate a complex work environment.
