Essential Functions of the position are detailed below, and include any physical requirements below that.   Will be responsible for seeking out opportunities, developing and implementing initiatives and
strategies to identify, cultivate and solicit potential prospects, donors and lapsed donors beginning at the $10,000 level. As a Major Gift Officer will be responsible for a portfolio of 75 to 150 donors that cross every Major Gift segment making sure gifts are stewarded by the Chief Executive Officer, Vice President of Principal Giving and Major Gifts Officer Lead.
1. Maintain a personal portfolio of major gift prospects (defined as those giving a gift of $10,000+ in support of Catholic Charities), as well as those donors and prospects that have the capacity to give at the major level or higher. 2. Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of prospects, developing and implementing a written donor strategy and relationship record (using Raisers Edge) of all interactions.
3. Communicate with portfolio through face to face cultivation, solicitation and stewardship meetings, and written strategies; ensure that each major donor and prospect has a clear strategy and timeline for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
4. Develop solicitation strategies for donors / prospects in support of the organization's annual fund, planned giving, and growth campaigns; ensure strategies are compatible and maximize opportunities with other existing campaigns and appeals.
5. Support the fundraising efforts of the Major Gift Officer Lead and Advancement Office in securing new and renewed gifts.
6. With the Major Gift Officer Lead create and manage organizational budget; track and report on progress to goal to CEO and VPG, including contracts, gifts, and pledges.
7. Work with the Director of Advancement Operations to screen and prepare profiles of current and prospective donors; establish and refine benchmarks for department research processes as needed.
8. Ensure proper donor recognition in all publications and oversee accurate donor lists for those publications.
9. Manage the design and implementation of donor recognition.
10. Work with the Communications, Stewardship Manager and Special Events Director to strategize and help execute cultivation events for major donors and prospects.
11. Be a visible presence at development department special events, such as major donor cultivation events and fundraisers.
12. Project manage annual appeals ensuring deadlines and fundraising goals are met for Major Gifts.   PLEASE NOTE: Essential functions include all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Five years of direct or equivalent experience managing high level donor relationships with demonstrated success in closing gifts of $10,000 and above. Ability to conceive, plan, and execute a major gifts program, including: annual giving, special events, and special projects/campaigns. Superior interpersonal and listening skills and the proven ability to
develop and negotiate complex relationships and proposals in person and in writing with a diverse portfolio of donors as well as collaborate with colleagues. Ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships with high level donors and prospects. Excellent grasp of Raisers Edge database software. Willingness to be hands-on in a role that is demanding and
requires a high level of energy and professionalism.   Minimum: 3-5 years
Three years of direct or equivalent experience managing high level donor relationships with demonstrated success in closing gifts of $10,000 and above. Ability to conceive, plan, and execute a major gifts program, including: annual giving, special events, and special projects/campaigns. Superior interpersonal and listening skills and the proven ability to
develop and negotiate complex relationships and proposals in person and in writing with a diverse portfolio of donors as well as collaborate with colleagues. Ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships with high level donors and prospects. Excellent grasp of Raisers Edge database software. Willingness to be hands-on in a role that is demanding and
