Resolve to Save Lives (RTSL) is a global not-for-profit organization with a mission to prevent 100 million deaths from heart disease and to make the world safer from epidemics. We are led by Dr Tom Frieden, former director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Since 2017, Resolve to Save Lives has partnered with low- and middle-income country governments, multi-lateral agencies, academic and other civil society partners, and communities to build capacity for and support implementation of enabling policies and effective programs to treat and control hypertension, reduce sodium intake, eliminate artificial trans fat, and strengthen systems to prevent, detect and respond to epidemic threats. Position summary:

Resolve to Save Lives seeks a Senior Development Specialist to undertake fundraising efforts and donor relationship management. This role will be responsible for developing and executing a strategic and operational plan that positions Resolve to Save Lives to meet its ambitious fundraising goals. The incumbent will cultivate meaningful relationships with a range of institutional and high value donors while working with RTSL executives, program staff and consultants to devise optimal requests for funds that align with donor interests.

The position is situated within the Office of the President and will supervise a Development Officer. This is a full-time, remote position, that requires occasional travel. The incumbent will have the opportunity to work in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment to support an important, large-scale, global public health effort. They will be expected to convene periodically for in-person team meetings and to work during US East Coast core working hours. The salary range for this role in the US is $115,000 to $130,000.

Core duties and responsibilities:

  • Diversify RTSL’s funding base by identifying and cultivating relationships with potential donors, including high-value individuals, foundations and other entities that align with RTSL’s goals and mission
  • Undertake donor scoping and develop a fundraising plan to support RTSL’s ongoing development efforts
  • Advise and work closely with the CEO and members of the Executive Leadership team including the Senior Vice Presidents, Chief Operating Officer, and Vice Presidents for Finance and Communications on an approach for each potential donor
  • Lead efforts to design and develop optimal requests for funds and prepare materials accordingly
  • Provide strategic guidance on key boilerplate documents (eg, history, mission and capability statements) across all of RTSL’s communication platforms (e.g. factsheets, websites, donor reports, presentations, etc.), in coordination with the Vice President of Communications
  • Participate in discussions with potential donors, and provide rapid and effective follow-up
  • Ensure tracking of grant announcements and timelines, development of proposals in coordination with program teams, and completion of all submission requirements
  • Actively and effectively engage with existing donor contacts and facilitate long-term relationships; drive engagement efforts to systematically identify and target new prospects
  • Stay abreast of the funding landscape related to RTSL’s program priorities
  • Report to the CEO and members of the Executive Leadership Team on progress and challenges
  • Manage and support a Development Officer

Required qualifications:

  • At least 10 years’ work experience in nonprofit fundraising with experience across a variety of donors, including foundations and individuals
  • Experience working with global organizations on development strategies, donor relations and fundraising
  • Experience working with senior leadership and high-level executives
  • Experience with major giving, cultivating and soliciting six- and seven-figure gifts is a plus
  • Ability to create/finalize high quality materials suitable for donor consideration
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple complex projects with competing deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with external stakeholders using strong interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Experience managing staff or consultants
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; high degree of intellectual curiosity, maturity, and sound judgment
  • Flexible and positive disposition; demonstrating professionalism, integrity and a commitment to excellence
  • Highly organized, results-driven, and with keen attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Preferred qualifications:

  • Graduate degree
  • Evidence of interest in/ commitment to public health and / or advancing health equity
  • Existing relationships in the global health philanthropy space
