Position: Accounting Specialist

Job Type: Non-exempt; 30 hours a week

Location: Hybrid (Temporarily Remote)

Compensation Package: Competitive salary, Paid Vacation and Sick Leave, 403b package with Employer Match.

Description:

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for providing accounting support to CEO and Director of Finance They will primarily perform Accounts Payable associated tasks with operations across the organization, including invoice entry, payment processing, and resolving discrepancies. This position will also assist with Accounts Receivable and other period-end closing functions, including bank reconciliations.

Responsibilities:

  • Enter invoices/bills for payment into accounting systems for Hope and SWOG CTP, an LLC of the Foundation.
  • Prepare, print and mail checks; process ACH and Wire payments for approval; file payment vouchers
  • Post cash receipts in Sage Intacct
  • Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
  • Update and maintain vendor database, ensuring that addresses are complete and current
  • Respond promptly to vendor, site, and employee inquiries regarding checks or electronic payments
  • Review accuracy of monthly SWOG CTP site payment detail received from Stats center by verifying payment amounts with funding memos and other study related reports; alert management and Stats center of any discrepancies
  • Assist with monthly bank reconciliations
  • Assist with annual audit preparation

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Associates Degree in Accounting, Business or related field with a minimum of 2 years of previous experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience in Accounting, Finance or Business. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of Sage Intacct or other equivalent accounting software
  • Ability to work independently and as a team to meet deadlines in a time sensitive environment with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Exceptional time-management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively while maintaining appropriate confidentiality
  • Must be proficient with MS Office. Knowledge of SharePoint, Office365; Nexonia systems a plus
