The Jewish Federation system, among the top 10 charities on the continent, leads the largest network of volunteer and professional leaders who build and sustain Jewish communities that are healthy, safe, caring, welcoming and inclusive, educated and engaged, involved in the broader community, and deeply connected to Israel and the global Jewish people.

Department Overview:
JFNA’s Lay Leadership Development strategy and department helps drive the vision of Flourishing Jewish Communities by developing those who can lead across the community through complex and challenging times. Our work complements and partners deeply across JFNA to ensure consistency with all leadership networks represented within JFNA and in the field.

About National Women’s Philanthropy:
Inspired and guided by our tradition of tzedakah (righteousness/charity) and tikkun olam (repairing the world), the National Women's Philanthropy ("NWP") of the Jewish Federations of North America is dedicated to the continuity, connectivity and thriving future of our North American communities, Israel, and the Jewish people. We believe that the future well-being of the global Jewish community is inextricably linked to the power of women's philanthropy, the fastest growing phenomenon in fundraising today. We represent hundreds of thousands of donors around the world; over 18,000 Lions of Judah and over 4500 Lion of Judah Endowments - all of which comprise an annual campaign of over $200 Million a year and pledged endowed assets in excess of $700 Million. Women philanthropists are the leaders and community-shapers of the world.

Women’s Philanthropy Campaigns in the Federation system are the fastest growing components of the Annual Campaign, now representing 23% of the total campaign. Women today hold 40 percent of global wealth, and across nearly every income level, The Women’s Philanthropy Institute research shows that women are more likely to give—and, on average, give more—than men, and by 2030, women will control as much as two-thirds of wealth in the U.S.
