With an operating budget of $39 million and 320 employees, we seek a Director of Development to manage our major gifts program and directly supervise the development team. Ideal candidates will be fundraising professionals with 10+ years of progressive responsibility in the field and have demonstrated managerial experience plus an enthusiasm for history and the power of museums to educate and inspire.

This position will manage the development team of 6 employees and have a personal portfolio of up to 100 prospects. The Director will collaborate with colleagues on our annual fund program and develop strategic plans for fundraising as well as corporate and foundation partnerships. Reporting to the Vice President of External Affairs and working closely with the President & CEO, Board of Trustees, and senior staff in multiple departments; the successful candidate should be comfortable managing a team goal of $10 million annually outside of a campaign. Superior interpersonal communication skills, excellent writing and editing skills, a BA degree, and management experience are required. Travel and attendance at events which are frequently held outside standard office hours is required.
