Montefiore Einstein seek a highly motivated fund-raising professional to join the Office of Development and Alumni Relations as the Associate Director, Foundation Relations (ADFR). Under the overall supervision of the Assistant Vice President and reporting directly to the Director for Institutional Giving, the Associate Director, Foundation Relations is an important member of the Institutional Giving team and will be responsible for providing professional, high-level support for the execution of Montefiore and Einstein’s Strategic Plan for Development.

This is a hybrid position.

Corporations and foundations are important partners in delivering quality health care to the underserved populations accessing Montefiore Einstein; and they are an important revenue source for strong outcomes-based research, community health projects and innovative health care. Working closely with the Director of Institutional Giving, the ADFR will provide critical input on all aspects of fundraising and stewardship, which includes portfolio management, proposal design, report preparation, and the identification of new funding opportunities. The ADF will serve as a frontline fundraiser together with the Director to attend high-level meetings with senior representatives from Foundation donors. Additionally, the ADF will participate in internal meetings with clinical and program management to assist with strategic fundraising and plan implementation.

The ideal candidate will be mission driven, have excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills that forge effective donor and internal stakeholder relationships. They will demonstrate professionalism and be a team player in an exciting, fast-paced environment. They will have the experience of translating complicated technical concepts into lay terms. Preference will be given to candidates familiar with proposal writing, grant writing and management and experience working with finance and program teams to reach fundraising targets. The position will be a valued member of a team driven by a shared commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Associate Director, Institutional Giving reports directly to the Director, Institutional Giving and is a critical contributor to the team’s annual fundraising goals.
  • Steward and sustain relationships with current and lapsed foundation donors, while identifying and establishing ties to new foundation prospects.
  • Draft and edit written materials (e.g., LOI/ proposals, reports, budgets, briefing materials), and track application and reporting deadlines.
  • Organize site visits,
  • Work with clinical, academic, and research staff and scientists in the preparation and submission of applications for foundation support.
  • Interact with funders and anticipate donor needs.
  • Conduct prospect research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for corporate and foundation grants and generate a healthy pipeline of opportunities.
  • Support the Director and Assistant Vice President with other projects and events as needed.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years’ experience as a fundraiser/grant writer, with a proven record of accomplishment of funded proposals; experience in a healthcare organization a plus
  • Excellent oral communication, interpersonal competencies and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize, expedite, and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, working within and across diverse groups and teams.
  • Experience using prospecting tools, Microsoft Excel, foundation submission technology platforms and portals, as well as Raisers Edge NXT, and other essential office technology.
  • Proactive, creative, and effective problem-solving capacity.
