Associate Partnerships Director (North America)

Location: Remote (US or Canada). Occasional travel within and between the two countries may be required.

SCOPE OF ROLE

This role is responsible for developing and implementing TBB’s relationship-based fundraising strategy in the North America context, and managing key relationships with donors to expand our impact. The role will report to the Global Partnerships Director and contribute to global fundraising strategic priorities, whilst collaborating closely with the US and Canada Directors and country teams respectively to achieve priority fundraising objectives in each country. We are seeking an experienced, passionate and strategic relationship manager with established donor networks in the US and/or Canada context, who will thrive as part of a fast-moving, collaborative, global team. Some out-of-hours work will be required to accommodate multiple timezones.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategy and planning: Develop and lead implementation of TBB’s fundraising strategy for North America, leveraging the fundraising potential of US and Canadian donors to support our activities in both countries as well as expand our global reach and impact. 
  • Donor prospecting: Foster relationships within relevant donor networks; identify and cultivate new donor and funding prospects. 
  • Stakeholder engagement: Engage with a wide range of influential stakeholders to promote TBB’s work and goals, and build awareness of our impact with key donors and influencers. Identify and advise on key contacts that the US and Canada Directors should cultivate to promote TBB's mission and work.
  • Grant writing: Propose grants to bid for, coordinate key internal stakeholders to develop application strategy, and write and team-lead grant applications.
  • Collateral: Produce materials to support TBB’s fundraising and partnership development initiatives, such as brochures and concept notes. 
  • Strategic advice: Provide advice to TBB Directors and the Global Leadership Team on fundraising plans, as required.
  • Representation: Promote TBB's mission and work, representing the organization to a range of external stakeholders, and demonstrating consistent alignment with TBB’s vision, brand, and strategic objectives. 
  • Reporting: Assist in the preparation of high quality reports to donors to ensure accountability and positioning for ongoing support.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & ATTITUDE 

Essential

  • Demonstrated relationship-based fundraising experience.
  • A track record securing grants and large donations from foundation, individual, corporate and/or government funders. 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid digital literacy and willingness to use/learn a range of digital tools (Slack, Google Suite, Salesforce, Squarespace, Canva, Campaign Monitor, etc).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to self-manage and motivate.
  • Demonstrated experience and familiarity working on issues relevant to TBB’s work (migration, displacement, conflict, refugee policy, social impact etc). 
  • A commitment to working collaboratively as part of a team to deliver the best outcomes.
  • An innovative self-starter with a tolerance for ambiguity, rapid change, and multiple time zones.

 

Desirable

  • Existing networks and relationships with donors and funding networks in the North America context. 
  • Experience working in a fast-growing, startup-style organization.
  • Lived experience of forced migration and/or displacement.
