The Salvation Army, North Texas Area Command, seeks an experienced development professional to assume primary responsibility for fundraising activities in Dallas County, Texas. Specific areas of responsibility include: individual giving, major gifts, some corporate partnerships and grass-roots community engagement. The position works within an overall Metroplex Development team of 15-20 and has at least one direct report. The Dallas County Director of Community Relations and Fundraising has an annual goal of some $5 million and reports directly to Senior Director of Community Relations and Fundraising.
The Salvation Army North Texas Area Command has an annual operating budget of some $57 million, 400+ employees and includes 13 community centers, four homeless shelters, two apartment buildings for senior citizens, two social service centers, and two Christmas assistance centers within the six-county area (serving some 100,000+ individuals in 2021).
The successful candidate for this position will have:
- A minimum of seven years of progressive development experiences in a similar Dallas area non-profit organization;
- An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution (Masters preferred);
- Demonstrated ability to manage a identify, cultivate and solicit gifts of $25,000+;
- Demonstrated ability to grow and nurture a donor/prospect portfolio of at least $1 million;
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, engage and direct volunteers and staff members in successful fundraising initiatives;
- Ability to meet and communicate effectively with people (media/volunteers/funders);
- Ability to work in a collaborative team network and environment with strong organizational, engagement and planning skills;
- Some experience with and/or interest in a major campaign effort in the coming years;
- Self-motivation and goal-oriented skills; and
- Current or previous work/volunteer experience within The Salvation Army or other faith-based networks is preferred but not required.
