Africa Bridge is a non-profit serving vulnerable children and their villages in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania.  Africa Bridge began in 2000 and has benefitted the lives of 70,000 villagers in 38 villages.  http://africabridge.org 

Job Purpose

The impact of Africa Bridge’s work to date has has been documented in an impact evaluation study by the University of Texas as a game changer in alleviating extreme poverty.  We are seeking a Grant Writer who will join us in our exciting quest to grow and expand our program and has the potential to move into broader development work.  This Grant Writer will research funding sources, establish relationships with potential funders, prepare, submit, document, and follow up on grant applications and prepare Africa Bridge personnel to engage potential funders.   We anticipate the focus will be on, but not limited to, family foundations.  Work will be done remotely.

Nature and Duration of Contract

Our Grant Writer will work approximately 20 hours per week for an initial period of 6 months.  The contract can be extended as funding exists and the work is excellent.

Qualifications

• Alignment with and passion for our mission and work in Africa, alleviating extreme poverty
• Proven track record of success gaining grants for international non-profits in excess of $100,000
• Documented potential for taking on larger development work
• Minimum of three years of experience successfully writing substantial grants
