What We Are Looking For
Baylor University's Division of Advancement is seeking an Assistant
Vice President of Development to lead a team of approximately eight
regional major gift officers. The ideal candidate for this role
will have a proven track record in a similar position, a passion
for the mission of Baylor University, and the ability and desire
for extensive travel both by car and plane.
A Bachelor's degree, seven years relevant experience, and an active
Christian faith are required. A Master's degree and ten years
relevant experience are preferred. Experience will not be
considered in lieu of the educational requirement and all
applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United
States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
- Providing leadership and direction to Baylor University's
fundraising efforts in and out of the state of Texas. Effectively
engage, cultivate, solicit and steward constituents across the
country in order to reach fundraising goals.
- Supervise professionals within regional major gift team.
Provide and document timely, consistent direction and coaching;
strategize portfolio assignments and annual/campaign fundraising
goals to maximize philanthropy and connection to Baylor
- Build, grow and manage a geographically based portfolio of
major gift prospects and donors.
- Collaborate with respective deans, directors/senior directors,
or other senior administrators in developing impactful
philanthropic agendas—consistent with Baylor's and colleges'
/units/ strategic plans—for major and prospective donors.
- Provide consistent communication and coordination with the
Associate Vice President for Development to drive staff behavior,
maintain and build a positive culture, and establish efficient and

Development, Major Gifts, promote and contribute to a collaborative
fundraising approach between regional development professionals and
other development professionals across the division to establish
creative, donor-centered fundraising strategies.
- With the leadership of the Associate Vice President, establish
yearly measurable goals and objectives and related metrics for new
gift commitments secured, proposals made, new prospects qualified,
and prospect meetings held.
- Assist, as requested by the Associate Vice President for
University Development and Vice President for Development, with
programs to increase giving to Baylor.
- Collaborate with other University Development team members to
inspire trust, encourage creative thinking, and collaborate with
other Baylor staff and volunteers to significantly increase private
gifts to Baylor.

professionalism and integrity to set the tone for the regional
development team; excellent interpersonal skills required; strong
