Prospect Research and Information Systems Associate Director

The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Prospect Research and Information Systems Associate Director is responsible for managing the prospect pipeline along with the database(s) to support Major Gifts, Foundation and Planned Giving. The associate director will be identifying trends as well as analyze existing data to determine where resources could be more efficiently used by teammates to cultivate and solicit outright and deferred gifts. The position will work with the teams to ensure portfolios are properly balanced for an effective stewardship and cultivation cycle. The Associate Director of Prospect Research and Information Systems is invaluable to meeting the departments’ goals of generating philanthropic revenue and advancing donor relationships.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Effectively articulate, verbally and in writing, WWP’s history, mission, vision, and programs to potential funding sources.

  • Manage CRM system to ensure business rules are being tracked and work with development regional directors to ensure information is inputted correctly and consistently.

  • Provide key support to inform prospect strategies, collaborating with regional directors to create and maintain prospect pipeline, providing appropriate analysis and reports to support decision making and systematically track progress.

  • Identify funding opportunities, with particular focus on detecting/discovering relationships among individuals, organizations, and groups.

  • Draft confidential and thoroughly research profiles, reports, and briefings tailored to the need’s executive leadership.

  • Administration of the prospect clearance process.

  • Work with Director of Major Giving to recommend and implement database process improvements to best serve the Major Giving Department to meet strategic fundraising goals.

  • Work with planned giving, major gifts, foundations to identify, develop, and maintain processes that enhance data integrity, stewardship opportunities and increase efficiencies.

  • Identify trends in current database with regards to forecasting for ROI reporting.

  • Trend reporting on attrition and retention for major donors and foundations.

  • Revenue reporting for tracking goal for quarterly business review for planned giving, major gifts, and foundations.

  • Trend reporting for regional growth.

  • Analyze existing data to determine where resources could be more efficiently used by gift officers to cultivate.

  • Work with teams on moves regarding portfolio management and updating account moves in database.

  • Provide technical support, maintain best practice documentation, and train the Major Giving Department to enhance end-user proficiency, skills, and professional development with regards to DMI and Salesforce databases and data best practices.

  • Liaison with outside vendors on trends analysis, forecasting and prospect modeling.

  • Initiate ongoing improvements with reporting and system enhancements with appropriate teams.

  • Communicate status of projects, findings, and trends to relevant teams.

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to monitor, compile, and analyze data to guide decision making.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain professional relationships and build successful and effective relationships.
  • Ability to communicate technical information and requirements to teammates and leadership
  • Ability to effectively translate staff requests into effective queries and reports and then translate the data back to the teammate.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize, delegate, and ensure that deadlines are met.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and tact.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Wounded Warrior Project and its mission, values, programs, and services, and the impact of these programs and services on wounded warriors and their families.
  • Demonstrated understanding of military service organizations (MSOs) and veteran service organizations (VSOs).
  • High energy level. Self- starter; willing to take initiative.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency using Microsoft Office, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

EXPERIENCE

Requirements

  • Five years of experience in data analysis, report management, process improvement and presentation of information.

  • Two years of experience with Salesforce NPSP.

Preferences

  • Five years of experience working in a non-profit organization.

EDUCATION

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing, or related field. Equivalent combination of applicable education, training, certification, and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
