Broward College invites applicants for the position of VP, Advancement & Executive Director BC Foundation.

 

Job Profile Summary

This senior management position reports to the President of Broward College and serves in an executive capacity as the chief advancement and development leader.  The position builds and fosters productive relationships among philanthropic, corporate, and community leaders.  Serves as liaison to the Broward College Foundation Board of Directors. The incumbent will administer and coordinate district-wide fundraising programs that have significant impact related to planned giving, donations, major gifts, corporate and foundation giving.

Minimum Education:

  • Master's Degree

 

Minimum Experience/Training:

  • Fifteen or more years of relevant experience including ten or more years of management/leadership experience.
  • Strong investment management and financial management experience
  • Experience leading a large-scale capital campaign capable of generating seven figure gifts or evidence of the capacity to do so
  • Strong professional presence, public speaking, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven success in managing and leading individuals and teams
  • Experience reporting to or working closely with a board of directors preferred
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience maybe considered

 

Essential Functions:

  • Daily -10%: Provides senior management level direction in fulfilling the mission of the college as such relates to major institutional initiatives.
  • Daily -10%: Provides overall direction and administration of strategic planning and institutional effectiveness reporting on initiatives related to the college's advancement activities including development, grants, events, alumni, advancement services, finance and operations
  • Daily -10%: Provides overall direction and administration of the Broward College Foundation, including Board recruitment, development, strategic planning, campaigns, fundraising, fiscal recordkeeping, funds management, and associated community activities.
  • Daily -10%: Provides overall direction and administration of the college's advancement activities ensuring compliance with the provisions of all applicable federal and state regulatory standards, and adherence to college policies and procedures.
  • Daily -5%: Works collaboratively with district, campus administration and academic units to ensure a college-wide perspective while working towards effective attainment of district goals, objectives, community engagement, advancement and fundraising initiatives.
  • Weekly- 5%: Leads the administration of all major gifts fund raising tasks of the BC Foundation, e.g., donor identification, development research, solicitation of prospects, stewardship of donors.
  • Daily -10%: Represents and serves as liaison for the college in various civic, community and professional organizations at the local, state and national level; conducts speaking engagements to promote the mission and goals of the college; serves on various college committees as appropriate.
  • Monthly -5%: Develops and administers all advancement programs and operations under charge to achieve established short and long term goals, objectives, initiatives and mission of the college.
  • Weekly -5%: Evaluates and formulates policies and procedures related to the college and the BC Foundation required thorough analysis of comprehensive data, which includes emerging trends, standards and requirements, Foundation administration, and resource allocation.
  • Monthly - 5%: Develops and recommends various budgets for those units of responsibility and participates in consultation and cooperation with other senior management staff to distribute and allocate funds.
  • Daily -10%: Maintains professional contacts with other higher education institutions and serves in leadership roles in professional organizations and associations concerning existing and developing community initiatives, and seeks opportunities for joint ventures and partnerships.
  • Weekly- 5%: Establishes a reputation of personal integrity and models ethical behavior in all interactions with internal and external constituents. Commits to creating and working in a collaborative and team-building environment.
  • Monthly -5%: Creates, leads and manages a commitment to diversity in the workplace and an ability to work effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds, ages, genders and personalities.
  • Weekly -5%: Communicates and negotiates professionally and effectively as a collaborator, decision maker, and problem solver with a comprehensive knowledge in the field of higher education. Ensures that Classroom Research Award results and other faculty publication efforts are developed and disseminated.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Models inclusive excellence
  • Competence in planning, management and oversight of a college-wide department, including organizational structure, staffing, hiring, termination and discipline, setting performance standards and evaluating staff.
  • Able to set strategic direction for college-wide advancement and fundraising initiatives.
  • Develops budget for a large area of the College
  • Develops and maintains active liaisons with national, regional, and state peer groups
  • Collaborates on large-scale projects and resource development
  • Ability to influence others of the benefits/importance of an idea or plan of action and to gain their support or commitment
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to reach mutual points of agreement and benefit among peers and colleagues
  • Responsible for developing and recommending policy related to operations of the Broward College Foundation (naming, gift acceptance, investment)
  • Must possess sound judgment, credibility and integrity
